The location is perfect: on a short low-traffic street, a beautiful green mini-park with walking paths and plenty of old, majestic trees only 100 metres away. Immediately beyond you can walk to the summit of Calton Hill for superb views of the city; walk a mile and you're at Holyrood Park (near the Abbey and palace), and another mile will get you to the top of Arthur's Seat where you can see far beyond the city's confines in all directions. Waverley Railway Station is within a half mile, as is the bus station and the terminus of the tram to Edinburgh Airport. A mile to the northwest is the Royal Botanic Garden, and to the southwest the National Museum of Scotland, the Scottish National Gallery, and Edinburgh Castle. If shopping is your leisure activity, you'll find it along Princes Street and the Royal Mile. After a full day of exploring it's a pleasure to return to the comfort, convenience, and beauty of this delightful home away from home.
