Second time staying at Mortonhall, this time we had one of the Shepherds Hut's. Firstly, all the staff we came into contact with we couldn't fault, everyone was so friendly and polite. 

We arrived super early to make most of our time in the City, we was able to leave our car on site which helped. Check in was very quick and easy. 

The Shepherds Hut was great, so clean, had everything we needed for our two night break. 

The bus which takes you into the city centre is just located at the top of the drive way and is so handy to have a city break but able to come back to peace and quiet and your own space on the evenings. 

Highly recommend to anyone.

Another fab stay

I went here with my family for the Edinburgh Fringe for a few nights and it was lovely! We stayed in a Tent in the fields although if you payed extra there was an option for power next to your tent and caravan. The site is quite big so easy to get lost in the dark, but the toilet blocks are lit and there are several lights dotted around, along with the main paths being gravelled. We were happy to find out that there was a games room with several arcade machines, an air hokey table and two pool tables! There are plenty of toilets and showers and charging sockets at these and the games room. It also has a reception with lots of information, and a garden centre and farm shop right next door. There are also two highland cows in a field! (These are also cutely on the map as little emojis!) And very helpfully several bus stops within a walking distance. The campsite was lovely and would definitely recommend!

Lovely site!

We were meeting family in Edinburgh and this was an ideal location.  Bus stop outside the campsite direct to Edinburgh.  Great location, new toilet and shower block and well kept site.  Brilliant restaurant onsite but you must book for food.  Although we like smaller sites with views, this was perfect for a weekend I. Edinburgh without having to pay crazy hotel prices.

Such a lovely family-friendly site, all nationalities welcome. We stayed in our little romahome. I told them I was disabled when booking, and we were put near the facilities, which was fantastic. You need to ask for the key to the disabled toilets at reception, the disabled facilities were fantastic, I would suggest they put a hook to hang your clothes as there is not anywhere to do that. A wheelchair will have ample room, and they have 2  emergency pullcords. There is a barbecue area which we didn't use, a park, a launderette also but I didn't visit it. The ladies' toilets were huge, and cleaners were visible. It says there is WiFi, but we couldn't access it. We went on mortonhall connection, and it was asking for £5. There is a fantastic little pub serving delicious food which is presented well and is affordable. You can access the WiFi there. They also serve a dog menu, which is brilliant. Very dog friendly place, and I only saw one lot of dog dirt on the site as some irresponsible owner didn't pick up. There is a well stocked shop and the shortbread is cheaper than in Edinburgh town. There is also a farm shop and a garden centre. There is a bus stop into Edinburgh City across the road from the park, and you need the number 11 into Edinburgh Town, which is £2 each way per person. If I ever come to Scotland again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again it is a fantastic site. There is a huge dining area to sit in and it has a kettle toaster and a microwave.

Morton hall caravan and camping ,I can honestly say it is definately the best caravan site I’ve been to ,the facilities are fantastic ,from the toilet and shower block to the breakfast and cooking area are just brilliant ,the grounds are kept spotless,play area for the kids ,games room ,and a lovely bar with great staff .we had to come home early due to unforeseen circumstances and the lady in reception was fantastic dealing with this issue .thank you 👍once again the best site we’ve been to

Best camp site 👍

The camping site had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Building Work was in progress on a new shower block which I’m sure would be great when finished. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about places to visit. We have a dog and there was nice walks.

Excellent stay

Have read through a number of reviews for this site and I think they are a pretty good reflection. We were in Edinburgh for the festival and stayed for 4 nights. The location of the site is very convenient for the city centre and the buses are very regular. The bar is good and has the atmosphere of 'a local'. On the downside there does seem to be a desire to get a many people into the site as possible and the toilet and shower facilities are not the best. Door locks are broken and the floors do seem to drain very badly. They really do need to be upgraded.

Perfect Location for City Centre.

Great campsite for a 3 night stay in our campervan.The onsite bar/restaurant was excellent Nice and cosy with a good selection of beers and the food was lovely.
The local bus into Edinburgh can be caught just outside the entrance of the site (number 11,£2 single into town)

Great location

Large but quite caravan / campsite in early October. Plenty of clean facilities.  Everything costs including power in the kitchen. 

Poor cell coverage for EE. The Camp charges for Wi-Fi coverage like a hotel...

Friendly and helpful staff. 
A shop with some supplies. 

Easy access to Edinburgh on the #11 BUS about 30 -40min run in. 

Worth a stay close to Edinburgh 

Let's start with the one HUGE let down by the organisations 'out of sight' management. Travelling on extended holiday from New Zealand we required excellent internet access at most points of stay.
In 16 days in Scotland including the remote Outer Hebrides, this was satisfied, except for here.
Also charging GBP5 per day, 10 for 3 days - there was not anywhere in the park, except inside the reception office, throughout each 24hr period - it was hopeless, let alone the only campsite in Scotland that attracted a charge at all.
In the end it cost us over GBP200 equivalent in NZ$ roaming/phone charges...

Having said that the staff were brilliant, hands tied by management would be my assessment & parks location & other facilities were great.
