stayed here for 3 nights 2,3,4 october room was comfortable and clean bathroom was ok but water went scolding hot a couple of times causing some pain .Breakfast we payed extra for not a big deal.First morning breakfast everything is pre cooked eggs were cold bacon was cold sent it back and they cooked fresh all ok .2nd morning everything was pre cooked again so just had toast and cereal .The only complaint was that the person serving the food did not change her gloves between handling the food then the tv remote and then opening the rear door and back to handling food some more training would be good .Plenty of parking out the back .The city is about a 25 minute walk away but there are buses out the front to.

The B&B is ideally situated 10 mins from Cambridge centre and is easy to get to.
It as plenty of free parking at the front and behind the property 
It’s very well maintained and clean throughout 
The rooms are well decorated but be warned the single rooms are very small indeed and dome rooms have a shared bathroom 
The double though is quite comfortable with a good sized bathroom so probably the better option 
They also offer a good WiFi signal 

All in all not a bad B&B near the centre of Cambridge 


This Cambridge lodge is close to a main road. Parking area is before the lodge. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Beds are comfy. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Fresh and delicious breakfast are served in the morning. Feel like being home.

Her Lodge : Your Home

I stayed in the Oakley Lodge in August, having used Booking.com.  On arrival I was told that they had discontinued the Continental breakfast and, should I require breakfast, I would have to pay £7 for an English breakfast.  When I pointed out that my booking included breakfast they agreed that was the case, but they said that it was a Continental breakfast that was included in the price and restated that the Continental breakfast had been discontinued.  

Given that I wasn't notified in advance that the Continental breakfast was discontinued, and my booking cost included breakfast, I sought that they either provide a suitable refund or that they provide the English breakfast instead, but they could not oblige. Indeed, they stated that because the breakfast was included in the price it was therefore "free" and any refund would be £0.   From looking at other reviews on Booking.com I see that other customers were similarly misled when making their booking. 

Aside from this, I booked a single room with bathroom. I was attending the Cambridge Folk Festival daily (until late) and my needs were very basic.  This room just about met these needs - it has a somewhat old, tired look but it ticks most boxes in terms of basic needs. The lodge fronts on to a main road and the noise levels were quite high, but that was something that I am used to and did not disturb my sleep.  

Overall I would not recommend this lodge, mainly due to the attitude of the staff when discussing the fact that I had paid for breakfast as part of my booking.

Don't bank on a breakfast

A soul-less and unenjoyable experience lacking any warmth or ambience. Staff had eye contact and a smile and the wifi was functional (and bizarrely there were lighted candles on the breakfast tables and an interior passage-way containing three electric irons for customer use) but any attempt at customer service ended there. 

The whole ethos of Oakley Lodge seemed geared towards making money at the expense of any niceties. Breakfast cost extra and was minimalist to the point of rationing: eg, one cup of coffee / one slice of toast per guest. Our room was a reasonable size with wardrobe space but otherwise barely functional with no TV and the smallest dolls-house sized kettle that didn’t even fill two cups (in a double room). The curtain pole had not been secured to the window frame and consequently fell off every time we attempted to close the curtains, and the duvet cover was stained in several places. The ensuite shower had no cabinet or shelving to store toiletries so we had to put them on the floor. 

A real shame; this could be a lovely guest house, with a little investment and a lot of tlc.
