We visited yesterday afternoon after driving by.we were greeted by Lovely attentive staff, Nice Burgers, lovely local ale and the food is good , value for money and good quality.Have been before and would visit again.

Met up with an old friend today and following a bracing walk in Petworth park, we had drinks and lunch in this lovely pub. Service was brilliant and the barmaid was kind  and genuinely welcoming. Food portions  were generous, nothing was too much trouble, atmosphere super comfortable and my dog Bess made to feel at home. My friend remembers this pub fondly from when she used to frequent as a much younger person than she is today. She, I and the dog were not disappointed.

Very nice, quiet and cozy place. We love atmosphere in there. And FOOOD was just AMAZING, can’t tell you more. Big Thank you to chef in there, we order different foods and they all was high standard, and soooo delicious! Perfect place where came back again! :)

Lovely pub with lovely host(Martin) and staff. We were looking for a pub to stop at on our way to Goodwood races but was finding it difficult as most pubs don’t open until 12.0 and was too late as we would miss the first race . We had visited the Stonemason Arms in previous years when they used to open earlier so I phoned the Stonemasons and explained the situation to Martin who offered to open at 11.0 for us ( 1 hour earlier than usual) . What a lovely gesture and we were made so welcome and enjoyed a couple of pints in the sun in the garden. We didn’t have time to eat on this occasion but the food we saw looked very appetisingly, this pub is very easy to find with a car park on the front and side, well worth a visit this is a beautiful old English pub with period fire places and oak beams.

I am a long distance cyclist and desperately needed water bottle refills (hot day), and some food. This beautiful pub loomed on the horizon and although it was early in the day - nothing was a problem and really helped me out. If the genuine kindness and generosity of the owner/manager is a marker for how the pub is during opening hours, I’d consider moving myself and my family in. Thank you kind Sir!

Decided to stay here for a little get away with my husband after our holiday was cancelled due to coronavirus! We were not disappointed, it’s a lovely pub in an excellent location right next to petworth park where you can take some beautiful walks. The room was a nice size and very clean and the manager was very accommodating, nothing was too much. Service was always friendly and the food was great. My husband said his meal of fish and chips was one the best he’d ever had and I’d definitely recommend the sticky toffee pudding. All in all a great stay thank you! 

I visited with my 5 year old daughter, father and his girlfriend, we were given excellent service and made to feel very welcome nothing was too much trouble by far the best dining out experience I have had the staff were extra friendly, even my 5 year old who is very fussy haha said what amazing food it was, thank you so much to all working this eve for a lovely time many thanks shelley and family.

Nice vibe, lively atmosphere in small english town. It's a hidden gem and must try if you are in petworth. Has dart board in case you want to try your hand at it, filled with locals around, you would get vibe of English culture.

We went on Sunday and had a very good Sunday Roast.
As the Town was very noisy this morning my lovely Husband took me out for a delicious snack lunch.
Great food lovely service. What more could one want.
I don’t think the rooms are open yet.

We went to the Stonemason's on Saturday evening after wondering around the beautiful village. We sat in front of a roaring fire and enjoyed a great meal. Awesome red onion chutney chef. The landlord, staff and locals were really friendly. After lots a laughs and being taught darts we came back the next day for lunch. Highly recommend the Sunday roast, real ales, coffee machine and the sticky toffee pudding. We'll definitely return. Many thanks from Andrea, Alan and Rex (black lab who ate his body weight in treats and had lots of attention)

Lovely pub 

We had a lovely stay in this lovely old pub. The oak beamed bedroom we stayed in was very comfortable. Very friendly staff and good food.  Thank you guys and If we are that way again we will definitely come and see you

The pub is in a historic building convenient for Petworth and the South Downs. The food and drink was good and the service was excellent. Some of the internal furnishings (e.g. the chairs) are a little worn. I would return again. This review says it is a hotel, we did not stay overnight.

Good lunch after a walk at Petworth

As the restaurant at Petworth House was closed we decided to look for a local pub for our meal. We found the Stonemasons Arms almost opposite the car park entrance. A charming old world looking building with plenty of parking. A very pleasant welcome as we walked in. We were seated in the dining area straight away even though we had not booked. The food arrived very quickly and was delicious. 
We can recommend this establishment for good food and wonderful service. 

Great place to eat

Came here for some food after a walk in Petworth Park. The pub is just down the road from there. 
They stop serving food really early but we managed to make it just in time.

We both had the pie which was nice, although could have been more meaty. It was good they weren’t stingy with the gravy too!

However it did have a funny smell. I’d not like to comment what it smelt like but they could do with opening some windows / having some scented candles!
