I stayed here before with friends and it was ok, so I booked to stay again in May 2020. There were jo 4-bed dorms on the site, but I rang up and they told me I could book a 4-bed dorm by email, and I paid in full by bank transfer. 

Due to covid we unfortunately had to cancel our stay, and as we gave more than 42 days notice, according to their policy, we were entitled to a full refund. After this point all of my emails were ignored. I rang the hostel so many times and every time I was fobbed off, or promised I would get a refund which never happened. I would have been more than happy to wait for the refund, as I know how hard the hotel industry was hit by lockdowns, so I was in no rush! However they just kept promising I would be refunded, which was clearly a lie as it never happened. 

I was eventually told by a frustrated member of staff that had spoken to me many times by that point, that the manager just doesn't care, I was one of many disgruntled customers in the same position, and there's nothing they could do to help. I lost £300 in total. Please avoid staying here at all costs!! They are absolute criminals and shouldn't be allowed to run a hostel.

As I said ,I would never come back in there, in a first point the receptionist Silvio is so rude , ( I remember is name because I have never meet a rude person like he )in a second point(I know is ridiculous),I hear about which someone was stole an old lady's laptop ...
At the end of the story ,I didn't sleep very well , because the pub in downstairs made an earthquake in my room , & then I went in the reception to make a complaint about it , but Silvio wasn't prepared to reply in a polite way ..
By the way I don't reccomend this hostel to no one ...


The worse hostel that I 've never been...

Having read a lot of terrible reviews about this hostel, I was worried about my overnight stay here with a group of friends, however our experience was better than expected. We arrived at around 2:30pm being able to check in after 2pm, and were given our key card after a £10 deposit, which was returned when we checked out.

We were a group of 9 people and all stayed in the 9 bunk room which was fine, included three triple bunks with a toilet/shower sort of wet room, though we didn’t use the shower. The room was very small and didn’t really have enough space for 9 people, but it wasn’t unbearable. We were given sheets and pillow cases upon our arrival to put on our beds, and duvets and pillows were provided inside the room. The beds were fine, good enough for the night but the mattresses were thin and the width very narrow. I think there were 8 plug sockets in total, but we brought an extension lead for extra appliances. 

The staff were friendly, giving us all the information we needed. There is no curfew to return back by, the place is open 24/7. We were told about a free breakfast, though very basic included in our stay from 8-9:30am. There was a communal room which was good but lots of perhaps intoxicated or drugged up people were sat in there, but no one bothered any of us. There was free wifi and the password was printed and displayed at the reception desk. Check out was at 10am the following morning, and we were asked to return our sheets and pillow cases as we left.

We had no problems staying here, I read lots of reviews which mentioned noise from surrounding clubs, however we were staying there after being out clubbing anyway so didn’t return back until around 4am, and most of the night life had come to an end by then so there was barely any noise coming from outside. Overall, a fairly pleasant stay, would definitely recommend for big groups just needing a place to rest their heads for the night.

Better than expected

Found someone to have a bit of fun with, but want it done on the quiet? This is your place. Music playing from the club downstairs is SOOOOOOO loud, you could fire cannons in your room and nobody would hear. We were however lucky enough to get the small shack room opposite the reception, which was cute and hilarious. Make sure you bring SOAP and a HAIRDRYER when you stay here, none provided.

Handy for hiding naughty behaviour

Be warned its above a sports bar /club.
Heavy bass shaking the room and fixtures till 4am, incredibly loud so forget sleep till 4am. Then the clubbers come back so shouting and screaming for the rest of nite/morning. I feel totally knackered and ripped off !!
Never seen such a tired looking and angry bunch of people in one place.

Hell

Noisy.  Receptionist told people to leave area but they were back in 10 minutes.  Seems to be a meeting place for local youngsters.  Noise started again at 4.30am and continued.  Shame.  Did not know it was a hostel

Nice clean room.  Tidy.  Tv didn’t work properly.   So very noisy.  Only two hours sleep.  Did complain at 2.30am.

my room and my bed was shaking in a ordinary week day from below nightclubs I guess until probably until 4 am it must been the bass guitar as the loudest in the world if I sleept in the street I would have been better off the day after going to work I was shattered of not sleeping.
And is full of homeless and they are there when they make some money from begging.I feel sorry for them they cant win not even at sleep.

earthquake hostel

My friend and I stayed here for one night when my friend made the booking there was no warning that the place was located agesent to a walkabout bar.  This meant it was very noisy at night and our room was so hot we had to have the window open when I went downstairs to ask about a fan the person on the desk said they didn't have anymore available. We had a private room which was clean with tea and coffee facilities provided the bathroom was very small but this did not inconvenience us too much no shower gel was provided though. 

the hostel is in a good location near the town and is a cheap place to stay. looking at some of the other review's I don't think I would stay there again I didn't like the posters behind the reciption desk and the person who greeted us looked very miserable. 

if you want a good night's sleep don't stay here if you want to party and need somewhere to crash late at night then it's perfect.

too noisy

I came to Brighton to catch up with some old friends. I thought hey, I just need a place to lay my head for a few hours at night. I looked at smart Brighton beach, regrettably not looking much into reviews. I knew it was a hostel and it was cheap but even still...

Soon as you enter and you go past the prison like gate, rusted to the core and you manage to endure the stench of cannabis and cheese, you eventually come to the reception. 

You are faced with an incredible rude (Russian?) man who wanted to shout at everyone who wasn’t white. 

With posters displayed around such as “Alcohol! Helping ugly men have sex!” I should’ve seen the red flags straight away. However, I proceeded. 

I was booked in for 2 nights. I didn’t even endure 1. I found a 24/7 gym and decided to spend my night there. 

The smell, the dirt, the heat; it honestly didn’t feel legal. 

I assumed , as displayed, it would be a backpackers hostel. Meeting up with travellers who treat it was some respect. 

I couldn’t be more wrong. You are mixed in with the homeless, alcoholics and the extreme drug takers. 

I shared a room with two other lads in a 3 tier bunk bed and I was barely able to open the door. The reasoning was because of the extreme amount of electrics that were plugged in, just waiting to catch fire. 

I could go on and on. 

But whatever you do, stay as far away from this place as you can. It’s not safe, it shouldn’t be legal and you certainly won’t get any sleep.

DO NOT BOOK!

Great location, 1 street back from the seafront. And for £8 a bed space, it seemed a bargain. Now I know why. 

If you intend to go out all night, you'll be alright. If you were hoping to get some sleep... Probably not. 
The 9 person dorm has 3 x triple decker bunkbeds and while you are given a pillowcase and sheet, the duvet appears not change in between guests. I hope I'm wrong. No lockers in the dorm either. 
The shower/toilet unit is built in one, so be prepared to wait if it is already in use. 
The dining room was comfy, but the flickering light bulb still needs changing (I've since seen it mentioned in reviews from months ago).
Kitchen was tiny, grubby and hob knobs were broken. 
All of this could have been overlooked but the biggest problem was the noise. Holy moly! All I wanted was a decent kip!! The advert mentions being above Walkabout. It fails to mention that the nightclub plays loud thump thump until 3-4am in the morning. Trying to sleep with 72 decibels thrumming through the bed frame was impossible. 
After reading the breakfast reviews, I didn't stick around long enough to be disappointed even more.
