As I was attending Crufts dog show at the NEC in Birmingham I needed somewhere nearby to stay. 
The George And Dragon in Coleshill was competitively priced and had free parking so seemed ideal.
I booked two nights and was given a room with a double bed and a single.
It had a large shower cubicle in the bathroom and the shower worked well. 
The bedroom was big but headroom was a little compromised by the sloping ceiling. It didn't affect my use of the double bed though.
There were plenty of tea and coffee sachets by the kettle.
A good point, breakfast was served from 06:45 a.m on Sunday. This was very handy as I had an early start and needed to be at my destination by eight.
Breakfast was included in my stay and I had a decent cooked breakfast both mornings. This is served in the pub bar rather than their restaurant.
I ate two evening meals here. I had fish and chips one night in the restaurant and chicken curry the night after in the bar as the restaurant was packed it being Mothering Sunday.
No complaints with the food. I'd describe it as standard pub fare and not too expensive.
The pub has a large car park at the rear so the description of free parking is accurate.
The staff were polite and helpful.
After making my booking I read some negative reviews on here and that made me wonder if I'd made a mistake? My worries weren't borne out and I was happy with my stay. 
I'd use the George And Dragon again.
I felt the price I paid was fair for what I received in terms of accommodation and food.

The establishment is run-down, drab, dingy and depressing.
The room is tiny, cracked basin, spring coming thro' mattress, curtains don't close, tiny 18" TV, 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel between 2 of us. etc.
Dinner was terrible, partial  refund given. Breakfast served in the  bar (by a small child) left uneaten - seats were dirty
On the plus side, the sheets were clean and 2 members of staff, Matthew and Tula were most pleasant and helpful.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

First night water poured through the ceiling onto my bed at 2am in the morning!
I was up all night as there was no one about to tell and no one to phone.  i had to wait till 5am when i heard the cook/cleaner come in (Diane very helpful)  
owner wasn't around and never came to the accommodation, i would have thought he could have rung me to apologise but know i had to ring back during the day as i was out on business and the staff didn't even know about it, so i explained it all again ,after they spoke to the owner they rang back and offered me HALF PRICE !

This hotel/pub is very run down 

My shower was falling off the wall, there was a big crack in the sink and the shower door was off its rail and the food i had wasn't great either.

All in all the worst place i have ever stayed .
i wont be recommending this to anyone.

Terrible

Please beware, this hotel is not fit to stay in. I booked a room for myself and my daughter for one night, in august 2023, We were shown to our room which as you can see from our photos had some issues! There was mould and damp on the walls with towels on the floor to mop this up, there were holes in the bedding and hairs and stains inside the bed too, and there was a large crack in the ceiling and damage to the walls too. In the bathroom there were stains all over the door frame and the radiator was leaking. My daughter and I decided we could not stay here and left. I really wanted to support a small business on this trip but not at the expense of our health and safety. 

In need of urgent renovations

First time visiting The George & Dragon, went with my Hubby for our 5th wedding anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. The food was beautiful and served quicker than expected, staff were friendly. Will be returning

Meal was amazing staff are so friendly we paid £50 about meal pudding  barnsley chops to die for would very much to reommend this place 100%, .2 largers good experience

We live locally and visit regularly.. sometimes just for a drink but often end up having food too! The food is lovely.. our favourite is the tandoori chicken, but I can recommend the fish and chips and the Sunday lunch is good as well.. good sized portions.. never stayed in the accommodation but friends have and said it was clean and comfortable. We have had breakfast there several times and it’s delicious! The bar is dog friendly and the staff are happy for you to eat in there instead of the restaurant which is a bonus. Give it a try 👍🏼

Regular visitors..

Went for a late lunch with granddaughter she chose the chicken tandoori I had scampi that was ok but the chicken was absolutely disgusting   full of fat the skin was left on not cooked it was just slime and fat ...didn't complain left it in a napkin and left never to return !

Restaurant not busy at all for a Saturday evening, bar staff not very sociable felt like we were an inconvenience. Food not bad…had better.  One of the drinks was not right it was definitely not a JD don’t know what it was. Wouldn’t recommend!!

Would not recommend if you want a pleasant atmosphere, felt uncomfortable couldn’t wait to leave.

A typical English pub with a few rooms.  The bar area was quite run down and the room we stayed in (6) could do with a bit of TLC and a bigger TV in a better location.  However the food was excellent, both the evening meal of fish and chips and the really nice cooked breakfast.  Above all, the staff were friendly and chatty and made it a pleasant stay for one night.
