We have just come back from our stay at Ashby Woulds. I would say Ashby Woulds is excellent value for money. The lodge we stayed in was huge!!! With three bedrooms definitely did not disappoint. Definitely not how some reviews have put the place we were very satisfied some areas of the lodge were a-bit dated but not to the point where I’d write anything very negative like others have done.
The hot tub was perfect we did not use on the first night however used every single night of our time here. Was hot and great at controlling the temperature 
We did not arrive until 6pm due to traffic and the staff contacted us to see where we was however they did not disappoint really helped us with locating our lodge and leaving it ready for us, they did discuss a deposit and requested this from us the next morning however I went to reception and no one was around apart from maintenance men I did offer to pay but was told they will come and find us to sort the deposit payment out.
This did not happen but I’ve seen other reviews saying it was a £150.00 deposit which I’m glad I did not do as with it coming up to Christmas I did not have this sort of money.
Heating in the lodge is perfect and super easy to control. Lots of utilities to use and set in a very relaxing and quiet environment. 
Would stay here again but possibly with a lower deposit which is more affordable.

Our stay at Ashby Woulds

Nice location and big lodge, pretty clean. Really rude receptionist on arrival, £150 deposit HAD to be made by physical card (won’t accept contactless) and then the pending transaction didn’t drop off my account for 6 days. TV didn’t work on arrival, wrong instructions for thermostat in info pack, hot tub emptied at 8.10am on the morning we left meaning we couldn’t use it on our last day.

When we arrived we were there was an issue with the lodge we booked so we got a free upgrade, always a bonus. Arrived at the lodge and everything was spot on. We were however missing our table from the decking/patio which we’re planning on using as the forecast looked decent. Rung reception and they sorted a table for us with no fuss. Hot tub wasn’t up to temperature for 1st night which was disappointing but we were told beforehand this cld be the case so can’t really moan too much about that, it was however up to 41.5 by breakfast which was splendid. Wi-Fi works perfectly which is rare for these kind of lodges, each lodge has its own individual Wi-Fi hub. I brought a fire stick with me and the signal never dropped once. Met the engineer who has only been here about 6 weeks and he is absolutely spot on, picked up on a thing or 2 that we hadn’t even noticed (like no outside light so u can see where your going when going to the hot tub at night) and fixed them first thing Saturday morning. Very peaceful location especially on the adults only park which we are on. I would definitely stay here again, I’d even pay the extra money to stay in the upgraded lodge which would have been an additional £220 on top of what we already paid. If they say the hot tub is in the garage, don’t worry, it’s all tiled and boarded out with another free view TV which works perfectly. I seen a couple of bed reviews before arriving, I have to say, I haven’t a clue what people were moaning about. This place is an absolute gem. 

Lovely weekend away.

Lodge 8 was very nice inside and huge for 2 people. Comfortable furniture and well equipped kitchen. The promised welcome pack doesnt consist of much compared to other lodges we have stayed in. The outside of the lodge and decking area could do with staining as it is in poor condition. Hot tub is great, it would be nice to have some sun loungers to use in nice weather as the patio chairs aren't very comfortable. When we were there the wi fi was in the process of being changed and so was unavailable all weekend. We should have been informed about this during check in but weren't. The promised sky TV was also very intermittent and only worked part of the time. The site manager did try to put this right for us. All in all a nice weekend but for the price charged there could be definite improvements.
Lodges are in a great location. Lots to see and do in the local area and some great walks.

Nice hot tub weekend 

Dissapointing. The only great thing about this place is the location. The rest is just dated old and extremely low quality. I am going to post some pictures and I hope they speak for themselves. Urine stains on the duvet, dust behind the night stands, smelly sofas and a complete lack of care and terrible attitude from the owner, who I tried to contact about the issues and although they were just next door, they never checked to ask what was going on. I would never go back. Please save your money and choose wisely. The negative reviews are people with standards. 

Great location and view, but that's about it. 

We stayed in lodge 2a which was very spacious and slept 6 even though there was only 4 of us.  Upon arrival we were asked to leave 250 deposit which we wasn't expecting which they took from a debit card and then told it can take up to 10 days to be paid back.  The size of the lodge was unexpectedly large which was great. However that was the only great thing! We had an annex which I will call the garage as that's what it looked like, and looked nothing like it did on the internet.  The only thing in the garage was the hot tub and a mirror on the wall, which is the TV. The TV didn't work to which we complained about on exit to be told the owner will ring me as we wanted some recompense. The owner called me later that day who said she would look into it along with some other issues we had, which I will go into later, and she would ring me back in a couple of hours. I still await this phone call a fews weeks later! I have tried to call but no one answers! The other let downs were that upon getting plates out to dish up a lovely meal we'd made the plates were covered in food remains, so we quickly had to wash these to eat off! The decking area was full of cigarette tabs and ash and an old parasol slung on the floor covered in mold dirt and bird excrement. The handrail into the lodge was broken too which we also reported. Now.... the vip luxury spa retreat aka the 'garage' was terrible, no working tv and no where to put the plastic glasses that were provided (which by the way we're so old and murky we didn't want to use them). We resorted to using the ironing board as a ledge to put drinks on.  The hot tub seated 3 people in a lodge that accommodated 6! There were 4 of us and we struggled to all get in comfortably. The temperature of the hot tub decreased rapidly so didn't spend much time in it.  We all couldn't understand how this lodge could be included in the autograph collection and is definatly not luxury! We did however had a good time at Ashby de la zouche and found a lakeside bistro which did amazing hot pork sandwiches! We would not recommend this park or return! 

Not luxury!

The area was the only positive about this trip. The lodge and the decking looks like they need painting as looked worn. No privacy at all for hot tub. Every lodge can look in. Faults with light as they flickered. Tele In bedroom wouldn’t work. Holes in walls. Kitchen appliances were cheap. The grills in the oven were dirty. If I paid around £250 for 3 nights I’d probably accept it but over £400 for what we got. I wouldn’t go back.

Paid luxury price for pretty  basic lodge

We booked this site for a relaxing break and have to say I’m surprised by some of the negative comments on here!
On arrival we went to reception and was met by a young girl behind reception although she was not full on friendly she did chat to us and explained where our lodge was and what to do if we needed to contact them throughout our stay.
The lodge itself was spotless we could not fault the cleanliness and it did not appear dated ( I was worried about this after reading previous comments ) we had a good plot would definitely recommended 5a as it has al larger decking area and no one over looking you when sitting on the side decking as it is the last lodge on the plot and next to a pasture. 
The dressing gown and slippers were a nice added bonus and definitely liked the walk in wardrobe . 
The hot tub could of been used the first night but we wanted it a bit warmer so we waited until the the following  day the only downside it did not have a massage table in the hot tub  area as shown in booking pictures and the hot tub is getting a little old but worked perfectly and was very clean
We did have a issue with the TV but the owners of the site sorted it quickly ( was just the battery in remote needing a change))
It s literally just lodges on site but amazing walks around the area and we found some lovely pubs and restaurants within walking distances .

A peaceful and spotless site

First of all the positives……..
1) Hot tub was fantastic and ready to use the first night.

2) Location was great for exploring and amenities close by.

Now the drawbacks…….
1) Check in - the member of staff who greeted us didn’t look like she wanted to be there and had her hood pulled up! She was desperate to get us out of reception as quickly as possible.

2) We asked about booking some spa treatments during our stay, as that was one of the reasons for booking Ashby Woulds Lodges, however was told they didn’t currently have a therapist. Slightly irritated that this wasn’t communicated via email. 

3) The lodge is advertised as luxury and unfortunately in our opinion it definitely isn’t. The lodge is outdated. The bed was comfy but tiny! There were holes in the walls in several rooms. Lots of appliances in the kitchen but with no instruction of how to use them! I don’t have a gas cooker so this was difficult! No instructions on the washer/dryer! 

4) We only saw a few members of staff during our stay and all but one of them looked happy to be there! 

Sadly we wouldn’t return as stayed in better lodges for half the price!

Definitely not luxury!

Booked for 2 nights before Xmas as it offered a hot tub. Was not concerned about the hot tub working as have many breaks per year and the hot tub is always up to temperature when we book in.
Booking in, we phoned as per instructions just prior to arriving but told to book in when we arrived, said we were 10 minutes away. Arrived no one to book us, or the other 2 parties in. Told we had to pay a large deposit against damage before we could be given our keys. Not having hard cash on us as we were not aware of this we were told we would have to wait until the owner arrived as no one knew how to use the card machine! 
We had very young children with us and had been travelling a long time. Asked if we could go to the lodge told they would have to ring the owner, told that some of us could go into the lodge but someone had to wait for the owner to arrive to pay deposit. Didn’t feel it was a very good welcome,when owner arrived no apology.
Hot tub was freezing cold did not get up to temperature until next morning, not ideal for a 2 night break. Although it says in the booking details you may not be able to use it first night, for a 2 night break,which was all we could book not ideal. Perhaps they should empty the hot tubs earlier on the day of departure.

Shame it was not a good start as lodge was lovely, even had an Xmas tree up. Staff around site very friendly and helpful.

But sorry won’t be back because of the check in experience which could of been handled better.felt that they didn’t want us.couldn’t understand this as we are a normal family who take care of their surroundings and respect other people.
