We arrived around 4.30 pm due to snow, we were looking forward to a great  ew year celebrating the New Year!
Young lady on reception was friendly but brief.
We were advised the route to our room and that the Key was in the door.
We booked a Lochside view room so we were excited to see the view the following day. We had booked 3 nights.

We followed the corridor through noisey flooring and thanked our lucky stars we weren't in room 2 as that was directly through the door.

When we reached our landing it was a shock to see the landing floor was big enough just for 2 people to stand there, it was a shock to see 3 rooms on that landing, one being ours! 

First impressions were OK, nice clean bed and quite comfy, furniture was clean and practical.

The bathroom was awful, it was tiled nice but that was all, it was a small weird shape, I was expecting a bath.

The extractor fan in the bathroom was horrible and noisy, we felt guilty having the fan on as we knew how loud we could hear other rooms extractor fans.

This hotel on the whole was OK, clean, warm and tidy.....but it drastically needs its noise issues dealing with, soundproofing or something!! We could hear other rooms clearly it wasn't great at all.
We booked out a day early as we weren't comfortable, we didn't bother to go and celebrate New year either.

I would recommend for a short stay and maybe request that you stay in a quiet room if such thing exists.

Breakfast was definitely the highlight, cooked well, clean and organised.

Disappointing New year, but Breakfast was fab!!

Lovely position looking over loch long and the mountains across the water. The bedroom was quite small but comfortable with everything you could need and the shower was larger than normal. We were asked every day if we wanted the room cleaned....great. Fantastic  full breakfast and very friendly staff 😀

Scenic location, nice view. Sadly terrible  night's sleep. Room was small, clean comfy but there is no sound proofing at all. Family with young  kids nearby ( not unsympathetic to them) but noise arrival , in night and awake 4.45. Can tell you kids names, every word audible. Other guests audible too. Bk.com reviews high 8 but when I looked now and filtered  low reviews " noise "( i don't usually negatively filter searches)  this lack of sound proofing issue has been reported many times by past guests. 
Checked out early and additional expense. Prop say speak b.com nothing back yet! 
Positives, warm room, breakfast v good but some investment needed to remedy / mitigate / add insulation to muffle guest noise. 

Can see others have flagged before poor soundproofing = no sleep. Scenic location, warm room, gd breakfast but.....

We parked round the back of the G/H and were blown away, views so amazing. When we checked into the G/H our views from our room were the same. Room spacious, clean. Amazing!! Love place to stay. Staff welcome too. The G/H owned the pub adjoin so we had our evening meal there too, lovely. Nice walks in the village too. But the Loch WOW!!

Amazing

I had a wonderful time here, came for a wedding,  stayed here alone, I felt safe and secure,  clean and tidy, great pub with good food right next door, what made my stay was the lovely manager Diane, she went above and beyond to make my stay special,  she was truly amazing, she makes me want to return, I'm trying to get all my friends to come next year with me. I'd definitely recommend this gem, I can't say anything about breakfast, because I didn't try it, but it smelt and looked amazing,  the area is awesome, so tranquil and beautiful and the locals are so friendly. I'll be back Diane my sweet new friend, I didn't get to say goodbye, but I hope to say hello again soon.

Great and happy visit

Very welcoming, we had to go to the pub next door to collect our key which was fine, we got offered to add breakfast to our room, 

Room was small but cosy clean and warm when we entered with a beautiful view, there is a information pack left on the dresser with activities 

We booked a 2 night stay and paid £7.50 for breakfast which was well worth its price, freshly cooked staff were very welcoming and told us about the local area, and what to get upto in our stay, 

We ate at the pub attached which is highly recommended food was amazing with large portions we couldn’t finish, also wasn’t too expensive

Lovely stay great food

I stayed with my sister and friends from Australia, visiting after moving away from the village in the 1980s. The room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfasts were lovely and with an amazing view of the Arrochar Alps from the conservatory, all staff were friendly and made the stay even better. We will be back

Very clean and welcoming stay

good B&B with wonderful views of the Loch, breakfast was good, staff friendly and service good. pub next does bar food but other restaurants in easy walking distance. we parked in front of the B&B but appears to be parking at the back as well

overnight stay during scotland road trip

Lovely guesthouse situated on the edge of the loch. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding - fantastic variety and absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The pub next door does lovely food too. Great place for our short stay.

Comfortable guest house with stunning views

Had a one night stay here. Hotel is clean and tidy. Bar is reasonably priced and the location is lovely. Great views of the loch. 

Our visit was sadly tarnished by a rather bizarre interaction with an extremely rude and unprofessional member of staff. William. 

At 1820hrs I asked for 2 menus from him at the bar. He said ‘ I’ll give you 2 menus but don’t expect your order to go through till 7pm. He’s backed up in there with 6 orders” .  A bit of an odd comment to make, but I told him that wasn’t a problem. We weren’t in a rush, we’d planned to be there for the evening. 

7pm came and went. He didn’t take our order. At 10 past, a female clearing glasses from tables seen the menus and asked if we were still waiting on food. I explained that the order was due to be taken. She bellowed through to the kitchen and shouted “ WILLAM THERE’E PEOPLE OUT HERE STILL WAITING FOR FOOD” . She told us that he would ‘remember now’. 

I had made no complaint about the wait. 

William had clearly taken issue with being shouted on. 20 minutes later he appeared with his pen & paper. He asked what we wanted and added, quite cheekily that we “wouldn’t be getting our food any quicker “ on account of us complaining.

At this point I told him we would just leave it, we had changed our mind. He sneered at us and laughed saying we wouldn’t get food anywhere else at this time of night. Again, I told him that it didn’t matter as we were quite disgusted but his attitude by this point .

He then shouted across the bar to a gentleman, that he could now order food as we had changed our mind. I’d heard this man be refused a food order when he came in as the kitchen was too busy. 

He disappeared through the back muttering and mumbling but looking pleased with himself. A strange character. 

Never experienced service like that before in my life. His comments and behaviour were totally unnecessary and spoiled what had been a pleasant stay. 

We left after our drinks and walked 5 minutes down the road to continued our evening with a meal in the Loch Long Hotel, lovely food and professional staff.

We will not be back to the Loch Side Guest House and will be sure to repeat this story to anyone else thinking of visiting .
