The Charamai Resort (a.k.a. Pang Faen Resort) is set in beautifully maintained gardens with a roaring waterfall and a small but handsome suspension bridge. The toilets are clean and the gardens and restaurant convenient for wheelchairs. We went for lunch and the food was nothing special at all. What was really surprising, and a first for us in Thailand (except in McDonalds and KFC)  was that we had to pay on ordering our meal.

Wonderful garden; so so food

We wanted to try a natural stop between Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai to take a break and we choose Charamai resort
The brick bungalows are clean and spacious with air conditioning
The site is crossed by a river whose surroundings are beautifully landscaped
The staff does not speak English but the owner do
The owner is very friendly and propose to drive us to our hotel the next day in chiang mai
Breakfast was taken in the wilderness and was ok  with the means at hand
All is still a bit expensive given the benefits, but it's worth a try

We really recommend that place if you need a rest. Sitting on the terrace of the cabin, having your breakfast (or lunch, or dinner) and listening to the river and the birds brings you very fast in a relaxed mood. The restaurant is set up in a very scenic environment in the middle of the nature. The Food is delicious ( Pad Thai, Minced Pork Tofu Soup,...) If you like you can sit on a fire place. If you do so, please ask for "sticky rice" made in bamboo sticks. The cabins are very comfortable and very clean. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. Thanks Nan (Owner) and Nom (Manager) for being great hosts.

A gorgeous place to enjoy nature and to relax

Been at the resort there for 3 nights in April 2015. 

The purpose was to se the highlight from Nothern Thailand. The manager Mr. Nom was very helpfull with assisting us with transportation. He is also the great master chief for all meals carefully prepared with home grown organic vegetables.

The purpose of the trip was fullfiled perfectly

Laid back style in nature - ´Thailand style!

I booked only two nights here initially and then the comfort and friendliness of the place and the staff made me to extend my stay here for 5 nights. The resort has 7 rooms or so all are individual villas standing quiet alongside the small clear stream. The time seems to run so slow when you are out their and the only thing you hear is the sound of the stream water, trees, birds and very rarely some humans or vehicles. Every morning they serve a nice breakfast which is nearly a traditional Thai dish with some fresh strawberries. The Manager who looks after the place will always be so happy to help, of my stay of 5 days he visits me every day and spend time explaining about the people, culture, attractions, price of taxi/tours, food etc.., he helped me to cut much of my expenses i must admit. If you are seeking for dynamic nightlife experience then this is not the place for you to choose and also if you wish to book a private taxi or car yo can also ask the Manager or staff here and they will help you to book one without any hidden charges. This place gets full or overbooked in months like Nov to Jan so better you book in advance if you are planning to go there in that period of time. From here you can do so many day trips to the hidden beauties of the North or do some adventure tours, adrenaline rush, temple tours, or go for an overnight tour to 'Pai' where yo will see almost full mud huts and villas along side the Pai river and you can visit the vibrant Chinese village, sunset, sunrise, hiking, cycling etc. I should mention about the owner of this place too, I met her on my 3rd day of my stay and she was a nice person to talk with and always keen on guest satisfaction she and the manager then talked in Thai and suddenly they said they are upgrading my villa free of charge so i got a very big villa to stay for my next 2 days. The staff were so helpful and always try to give the maximum effort for making your stay a pleasant one though sometimes you need to be patient to explain your needs as they try understand, but you will be assisted by a phone call or the manager himself comes to sort out. i will probably choose my next vacation here and hopefully planning to stay more and to get some "inner peace". go there get a good experience, mingle with the locals, Enjoy & Experience the North of Thailand.
