we was achui beach bubgalows matemwe to visit my family and enjoying sead with chips and fresh juice it was very good food and staff very freindly so we are very happy and we learn many things from local people 

We were well met by the staff at Chuis. They were kind and helpful in many ways, meeting our desires every time. Organizing lifts, payment, food and a great housing for reasonable price. Great breakfast served by the happiest waitress. 

Chui beach bungalows is a nice place they have a good food good rooms good staff sea food fresh every day one day we have sea food plata with chips and salad was very good and another day we have tuna and avocado salad was very good.

The rooms are very basic with absolutely no frills but we had what we needed: running water (only cold, no hot but at this time of year a refreshing & cool shower is perfect), loos that flushed and clean bedding with mozzie nets... although with the stiff & very welcome offshore breezes, we encountered hardly any mosquitoes during our time at Chui.

If eating at the restaurant, I can recommend the fresh seafood caught daily! Prepared and served by a smiling & accommodating Habibu & his team.

We even had free WiFi (most of the time) & were thus able to upload our photos from the day's activities onto facebook.

Speaking of activities, THIS is what makes this Chui Beach Bungalows located on the north east of the island such a win! Our days were spent mostly on the beach:- tanning, reading, shell hunting (although we left our treasures on the beach for others to find), snorkelling (Chui is located close to some world class reefs), deep sea fishing and Vespa scooter rides along the beach front (scooters hired from the locals) - which was a definite highlight!  Some of us also booked henna tattoos and massages from the local beauty therapist located right next to our bungalows.

We would definitely consider staying here again as it was very affordable and we could spend our hard earned South African rands on activities rather than on pricey accommodation.

Nice bungalows with a local and chilled vibe

Chui beach bungalows matemwe 

Basic but breathtakingly beautiful

Chui beach bungalows in Matemwe, Zanzibar has bare bones basic beachfront rooms. It's more a hostel. There are only four rooms plus a small restaurant. Rooms are large but contain only a bed and set of shelves. Chairs in the room and on the porch would be nice. The room was like a cave with several light bulbs burnt out. Bath is roomy but does not have hot water or separate shower. It's hot so the lack of hot water was not a huge problem. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. Rooms have a fan and mosquito nets. Food is good but the choices are limited. The beach is a long stretch of white powdery sand. Staff is friendly and helpful. Wifi is off and on and only in restaurant. Locals on the beach can be annoying and have to be ignored. No toiletries are provided.
