Sunlax B&B

Amidst the rice paddies of the Luodong plain, the Greek-style dome on the top of the Sunlax blends in. There are hundreds of recently built "minsu" or guest houses in the area: Modernist glass geometries, bright construction sets and, increasingly, castles, ships and other shapes that bring young families over from Taipei. In this market, kid-friendliness, comfort, and a nice breakfast are standard. The Sunlax checks these boxes, with a sandpit in the garden, a few teddy bears scattered around the interior design; elegant rooms that are large enough to make some of the air conditioners struggle; and breakfast that's enough to start the day. You get chopped fruit, some nice though probably bought-in bread, a couple of squares of omelette, and half a small sausage. When you've finished your cup of coffee, you're about ready to head out for some family tourist activities (try the crayon factory) and an early lunch. The Sunlax might not leave vivid impressions, but that's just fine for a budget minsu.
