Very friendly, quick and thoughtful service; good selection of dishes, great selection of wildlife. Very good quality. Very pleasant ambience. Price performance fits. Good wine selection, reasonable prices.

Delicious food, friendly service

The food was very good, and you got a good portion for the price, very attentive and friendly staff, the toilets very clean, the atmosphere very calm and pleasant.

The food was very, very delicious, the decor could be a little more beautiful, the service was very friendly, competent and very attentive, we were very well advised, price and performance are true, because really fresh is a big part of it, we will definitely come by again, we can recommend it with a good conscience.

Very friendly service, good selection of dishes, even Sunday menu. Partly unusual, Thai brewed. Quality ok. Large portion. Thoughtful outdoor seating, very pleasant in summer.

Grounded

Restaurant Roessli serves very tasty food, ideal for budget travelers! The hotel is basic but clean and room rates include a hearty breakfast, perfect for backpackers like us. The owners and staff are very friendly.

Very good food

If you are on a low budget and are somehow stuck in Goldau, (a major railway hub, the junction between rail-lines coming from Zürich-Airport and from Basel-Stuttgart, trains running to the Gotthard, longest railway tunnel in the world, to the South, the Swiss Ticino and to Milan, Italy and further down to Florence and Rome) then the Roessli is the only option in town to get a bed for a night. They have only four rooms. At the moment the price is 55 Francs per person, without breakfast (breakfast available at additional cost). The only other two options in the immediate area are in Arth, roughly 1 km away, the Hotel Adler and the Hotel Roessli (same name as the one here in Goldau). The Roessli in Goldau is the regular kind of old Swiss country-style restaurant and hotel, nothing special.

Arth and Goldau are the same political entity, so if you check it out online, be aware of the two different locations. The hotels in Arth have the better location at the lake of Zug, but the rooms are more expensive, 75 or more Francs per person, but also better quality. The closest low budget place is the Hotel Hirschen in Schwyz, marketed as a backpacker's place.

By the way, the major attractions in Goldau are the zoo with regional wildlife (very well presented, lots of kids' activity; name in German: Tierpark Goldau), and the Rigibahn, the railway to Mount Rigi, with excellent sledding opportunity in winter, aside from skiing. Also lots of hiking in summer. Both attractions in walking distance from the Hotel Roessli.

The lowest priced place in town

My wife and I backpacking through Europe stopped n arth goldau all hotels were closed we just happened to catch the owner she was so nice and let us stay yes the hotel is old but look at the views that's what we wet there for not the hotel and the people are very nice and we had a frat time in Switzerland 

We were stuck 

The hotel part is poor, the food on the other hand was very good indeed.  The room, a double  did not have en-suite and was shabby, old, creaky. For the hotel part I would rate as 'POOR', the restaurant 'GOOD' and total score 'average'.
