I have stayed here many many times, in fact I had lunch here first time at Easter of 1977 as a young boy. 
It is a delightful place in a prime location. The food is top notch local products. One perfect place to include in a summer road trip through Sweden. 

Incomparably beautiful ... location, environment, the house... very very hospitable hosts, knowledgeable about Öland, familiar atmosphere, exquisite food of local products, picked in the garden, caught in the area, prepared with love and insight!!!
Just perfect!

Gammalsbygarden has a history of 5 owners over a half century of operation. I have eaten food here by all owners and stayed here by the latest 4. Happy to find the current owners carry on the long tradition of excellent food based on local products. The atmosphere and, of course, the World Heritage surroundings, are top notch. Will come back!

I stayed 6 nights here on a Naturetrek holiday. The home-cooked food is first class - lots of local produce. My room was simple and comfortable. The family running the guesthouse are delightful and extremely welcoming. South Oland is beautiful and full of interest. 

Right in the heart of southern Öland, is this old farm that has been rebuilt into a hotel. Beautiful houses and garden, with fantastic surroundings. The rooms are very nice and well kept. And the food, a set menu mostly based on local products, is fantastic as well. A truly impressive small place. 

We had a nice three-night stay here. Our room was bright and comfortable, apart from the creaky extra bed. The location of this hotel is excellent, with green surroundings and some nice sea views. The owners were hospitable and friendly.

However, the bread at breakfast was so bad we didn't consider eating anything else here. We were able to find better bread at the local supermarket. A toaster and some real butter would help.

We stayed here for four nights in August 2014 in order to be close to the nature reserves of Öland. The couple who now run the guesthouse (which is, alas, for sale) are delightful and very welcoming: all the meals are home-cooked traditional Swedish country cooking. The guesthouse is a traditional set of old buildings with thatched roofs. All the rooms are different; ours had a view over the neighbour's extensive green property. The location is somewhat isolated and very quiet. It is an easy drive to Ottenby nature reserve (our main point of interest as birders) and to many other natural and archaeological sites on Öland (driving is very easy in southern Öland, as most tourists flock to the beaches at the north end of the island). We were able to see a wide variety of sites, including some in the northern half of the island. Very comfortable. One cautionary note: there is no internet service. Unlike at least one reviewer, I did not find the breakfasts mediocre, and though there is some pressure to have dinner at the inn, that did not bother use. It is not cheap, but then nothing in Sweden is cheap!
