The Sovereign is in a convenient location about 1.5 km from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic on the other side of the Kandy lake. The rates are economical, rooms are spacious and come with a reasonable amount of facilities. The toilet and bathing area can improve. 
The staff is friendly and helpful. Suresh the manager is well experienced in hospitality and maintains superb relations with customers. We will stay at the Sovereign when we visit Kandy again. 

Pleasant Stay in Kandy

The Hotel is  like small palace.The Rooms are very spacious well maintained.  Comfortable stay. Fairly close to temple and busy area. Breakfast was 👍 Mr. Suresh , manages very well  and very attentive

Stay in sovereign kandy

As we were a big family with parents and kid, we were offered a suite room where I enjoyed my stay in a large apartment type room with our own kitchen and a living room. AC and hot water were perfect. The Sri Lankan rice and curry was offered as our breakfast as we said we were missing good food in our travel till then. Mr Suresh immediately offered to provide us with rice and curry for breakfast and it was excellent in quantity and quality. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Specially with helping us with our luggage to first floor as the property did not have a lift. This place is a hidden gem and not too far from the tooth relic temple.  A must stay place in Kandy. I will definitely book again when I go to Kandy!

Holiday season

The Sovereign has a great location 15-20 min walk to the temple. Large rooms, comfortable beds and a nice sittning area for breakfast or evening. Nice host who will help you with all you need. If you are sensitive to sounds, the rooms facing the road are subject to traffic in the mornings and it might be good not to stay at the same floor as the breakfastroom. 

Large rooms walking distance to town

This hotel has large clean rooms with decent bathrooms. The linen on the beds is nice but the towels are a bit thin and small. There is no handtowel or bathmat provided, but overall the room is well-equipped with a TV, AC, mini-fridge, sitting area and wardrobe. There are no bedside tables but a few powerpoints for charging phones etc.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is quite good although felt a little random as it is a mixture of local and continental breakfast.
The terrace is a nice place to sit and relax after a day of site-seeing. It is relatively quiet for Kandy.

Room very comfortable, clean, ample size. Staff very helpful suresh exceptional service, location easy access to town would not hesitate to recommend or return next visit.asked to change room it was not a problem

Wife stayed on her own

Decent hotel, bit out of the way. As a large family we had a spacious apartment, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was soso, bit expensive. A plus are the coworkers, with a good own tuktuk service. Manager was helpful though quite attached to his phone so it seemed....

Decent hotel

In all honesty anything after our previous accomodation was going to feel palatial. To be fair, the service was wonderful and nothing was too much hassle. The rooms themselves were fine, nothing fancy but ticked the box. The bathrooms are basic and could do with better toiletries. 
The breakfast cost a bit BUT we loved it and happily paid it. So many beautiful local foods to eat. I would stay here again. I liked the location and how quiet it was at night.
