It is a perfect homestay in Kandy. The meals are delicious (I think the best breakfast I had during the three weeks I spent in Sri Lanka). Because it is not in the center of town it is quiet, yet still walkable to the city center (going back I would say take a tuk tuk for about 300 LKR). If you want the guesthouse can give you a number of a tuk tuk driver that can pick you up in town and take you to the place, because not every tuk tuk driver knows how to find the guesthouse.

Very nice and helpfull

This is a genuine Sri Lankan family homestay. Most striking is the warmth of the welcome from Jayabo, Achala and their two teenage children. The guests have a large area in the middle floor of the house to themselves. Rates are very reasonable. Also sumptuous dinner provided for 6 USD ( Basmati and 8 side dishes ). Breakfast 4 USD ( curried dahl, string hoppers etc. ). Achala provides expert lessons in authentic Sri Lankan cooking using natural local produce with an emphasis on health and nutrition. ( These are a delight in themselves ). A previous review said that tuk-tuks were not readily available. This is not so. Tuk-tuks pass on the road below the house every 3/4 minutes. ( As they do everywhere in suburban Sri Lanka ). The landlady will call one for you anyway. Stayed 3 1/2 weeks. One of the best places I have been worldwide. I'll be back.

Nice clean and spacious rooms. Great public room with refrigirator and some kitchen facilities,
Good breakfast and the hostess is very helpfull and a great cook. The hotel is situated in a quiet and green surrounding. It takes 15 minutes with a tuktuk to get in town. We loved our stay there.

Perfect place to stay!

We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it! We were very warmly welcomed by the family, into their home and were offered tea on arrival.  We had opted to have breakfast and could choose to have anything we liked, so we chose to have a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast, which was delicious.  We also had dinner there and again, lovely home cooked Sri Lankan food, the best we had eaten! The room was basic but clean and a good size plus there was a communal lounge with a TV and kitchen.  A sign to advertise it along the roadside would help people to find it more easily.

A five star service for a budget price

The place is quite far from the railway station and its not easy to find the place at night. You have to take a tuk tuk to go to the station or to the city - which has to be arranged by the owners since you won't find any tuk tuk near the place. Overall the place was clean.

I had talked to the owner and it was agreed that he will give a discount which he did and charged me extra for the breakfast. I did not like the interference of his lady when we were negotiating since I made the deal with him and not the wife. 

The downside is that we had to pay 1100lkr for a cold, small portion and good for nothing breakfast. And the most bizzare thing was that the owner's wife was standing on our head all the time- not asking if we need anything but counting how much of her unfresh food we had eaten. 

You can stay at this place if you want to stay away from the city centre and want to take a tuk tuk everytime you want to visit the city. Do negotiate before coming here and stay away from the food.
