Amazing place to stay near to the beach. We were expecting it to be more basic (as we booked the basic cabana) but it was amazing. Clean, comfy bed, desk and great place to chill under the cabana. Couldn’t have asked for much more.  Surroundings were beautiful and well maintained gardens. Breakfast/food at the restaurant was great. Staff very friendly and very helpful.  10 minutes walk to Main point for surfing. This was our favourite wave in Arugam Bay. Being so close allowed us to be the first people in the water each day & surf it without crowds for about an hour. I highly recommend this Quite Place

A Must Stay if visiting Arugambay!!!!!

Beautiful stay with Ansa 🌟🌟
 
We had a perfect stay at star rest beach hotel. The rooms are right on the main street at Arugam Bay, meaning you’re one turn away from most shops and eateries. We didn’t have to use an auto rickshaw the entire time we stayed. The rooms are standard for Arugam Bay in general, but very clean, relatively quiet at night and with good AC. Last but definitely not least, the host/housekeeper Rauff was gracious, diligent and respectful. He goes the extra mile to help his guests with anything they ask, and deserves all credit for his great service. Big ups and all five stars to Ansa and the team!

Very quite place and helping staff 

It was an amazing time at Star Rest - I booked the package for 3 nights and 4 times surfing, 1 massage and 1 yoga lesson, including the breakfast, dinner and snacks.... it was more than fullfilling. Ansar and Fainas did arrange everything for me from the first second, so that I can have the best stay! Surfing was nice, the transport was also included, we went to different surf spots and I could wish for the time, like sunrise surfing aswell. In the evening we went to see beautiful sunsets, for example to Panama Village and Elephant Rock, just an stunning nature with wildlife of elephants, buffalos, monkeys and peacocks around Arugambay, unforgettable <3
The food was so yummy and I am already missing it a lot!! Sometimes they did cook by themselves and sometimes they bought the best Kottu or what I wished for. The everyday king coconut from the garden was delicious and healthy :)) The room was okay - nothing special, but okay to stay in... just you need not to be afraid of spiders or cockroaches, but there is a mosquito net, so no worries. ;)
All in all I liked it so much, that I came back after going south for 2 more nights before going back home- it is a place to chill and calm down. They always helped me with everything- finding the right busses, dropping me to the bus station, etc. And what I also really liked was, that it is not in the main tourism area of Arugambay... it is in the beginning, so right after Pottuvil and perfect for a walk on the beach or on the streets of Arugambay to the main places, where there it is lively.

Nice place for surfing in Arugambay :) Great package!!

Wonderful place and helpful staff.very clean room and big bathroom.i highly recommend. We use free kitchen and washing machine. Free cabana was very cool . Nice balcony and easy chair. Sure I come back again

Perfect place to finish our holiday. lovely host and helpful staff. thanks so much. would definitely stay again if in the hotel
 
such a great location. practically on the beach , fell asleep at night and woke in the morning to the sound of the ocean. host was such a lovely man and let us keep one of the rooms (at a charge) so we could shower and leave bags there before 8pm check out. organised bus tickets for the overnight bus to Colombo and organized tuk tuk to the bus stop. one of our party forgot a glasses case and he arrived at the bus stop with it !! breakfast was delicious and included in the very reasonable rate, and served at what time suited us thanks so much for your hospitality Air conditioning was brilliant

Very Helpful staff and valuable for money

I came to Arugambay without a plan, 
Ansar and Fainas welcomed me so warmly. They organised everything for me to enjoy my stay there to the fullest.
I could enjoy the camp for five weeks, the food the people the perfect place from the hotel is by far the best I could experience so far. The Beach is just 100 m away. 
I can only recommend it. I will definitely come back as soon as possible. I miss everything already. I have not only made friends here, but also a new family.

the best place to stay

We spend a week at the Star RestBeach hotel Arugambay and it’s definitely a place we recommend to enjoy the sea and relax. Ansa is an incredible human : wonderful surf teacher, great cooker, tuktuk driver sometimes, a funny energic guy’s. The room are very spacious and the bed comfortable and big! Is close to the sea (70m) and quiet. Breakfasts are quite huge : toast bread, fruits, eggs and hot drink. Pizza are great (good after lot of rice and curry) Fish diner we had for Christmas was delicious (include on the surf week package) Thanks for this amazing break we had Take care of you and your family 🙂

“Great surfcamp for all surf level”

We loved our stay at Star Rest Beach Hotel Arugambay , so much so we extended our two night stay to a fourteen night stay.
The location is absolutely perfect, it’s a short walk to the surf point,  There are plenty of good bars/restaurants surrounding, but you don’t need to go anywhere if you don’t choose to as Star Rest Beach Hotel has everything you need from good food and drinks, a little market stall with freshly baked goods, and they even did our laundry (which came back in the most wonderful condition).
The owners Ansa were extremely lovely, helpful and approachable, and their staff were just simply amazing, we could not fault them in anyway.
Our room was spacious and the aircon was perfect!
We could have easily stayed here longer than fourteen nights and didn’t want to leave..🙏

We had terrible weather in Aragum Bay  :) Value for Money

This is one of the best places we have stayed! The breakfast was exceptional and they catered very well for my vegan diet request (fresh juices, tea and a huge plate of toast with veggies, salad and chickpeas). We stayed here in the off season and it was really chilled and relaxing. The staff were amazing - so polite and helpful. They helped us rent surf boards, catch local buses to our next destination and go on a safari. The whole place is very clean - they sweep the common areas and rake the sand each day, The wifi worked perfectly, the air conditioning was lovely and we absolutely loved our time here. I was highly recommended Star Rest beach hotel Arugambay 🌟🏖️⛱️🌊

Beautiful cabanas garden Garden view!

The staff was very welcoming, so helpful with everything, luggage, information, booking taxi or tuk tuk, they were friendly and kind, spoke great English, made sure we were alright our entire stay. They were perfect :)
The location is great, few meters away from the beach and also from the road. At night you can hear the peaceful ocean.
The hotel is very clean, the rooms are big, the bathroom is pretty and spacious, the double bed is wide and comfortable.
The hotel offers very nice common spaces, some couches on the roof top to chill and relax.
The occidental breakfast is very good as well.🙏
