Great place for groups or family. About six apartments with double twin rooms some with bath. All in one structure with a small pool large area outside for cooking and entertaining and washing facilities. Spent the week there walking each day. Great for walking and cycling.

We returned to Villa Maria after 1 year and 2 months and found our little paradise on the island of La Palma as beautiful as we had left it in Dec of 2012. Villa Maria is a little gem for those of us that are looking for a quite place, no rush, no masses, small, cozy and peaceful. The gardens are beautifully kept and offer spaces to sit in the sun and relax, enjoying the quite surroundings. We returned to the same apartment, upper floor attic, which we enjoy to the max. Our 2 balconies always offered sun at any time of the day, idyllic. And as mentioned last year, the owner, Jose, is a delight of a person and knows the best places to enjoy great La Palma cuisine. The thing we appreciate the most is the privacy that he allows you to enjoy. This is not a hotel. You rent an apartment and you need to be self sufficient. If you're looking for a great place to de-stress, lay back and enjoy the La Palma way of life, this is it.

We were very happy with Villa Maria. It was kept to a very high standard both externally & internally & unlike some photographs in this case the reality was better. It was well appointed & large. The views of the garden mountains & sea were good. It was situated in a part of the island that was close to National parks for hiking, small towns with good restaurants, such as the El Porto Tazacorte which had what seemed to be the best/safest beach on the island. Most beaches are rocky & dangerous for swimming. There are no water sports this year but next year there will be jet bikes out of the port at Tazacorte. We went on a boat trip & saw a school of dolphins, which was amazing. This trip was good. Although we could not go in the cave or swim as the sea was too rough. This island is not for beach lovers, but it is very lush & this is a nice change.

Paid extra for an upgraded apartment & stayed in No 1.  Good to have a bedroom & a bathroom each & the log fire although we had to ask for firewood then I collected my own from the woods after my walks! Plus as there were no chairs infront of the fireplace I moved one of the armchairs so I could sit infront of the fire to enjoy it more! Maybe it was the time of year but the apartment seemed a little dark & chilly.  Shame the bedrooms do not have an outside view. Instead you can enjoy the view from the bathrooms plus of course the conservatory!!! The apartment was very spacious & well equipped although I had to ask for a bottle opener for the bottle of local wine we were offered on arrival which was a lovely gesture & I noticed there was an ironing board but no iron but I didn't do any ironing on this occasion! We were disappointed we didn't have an outside area.  I understood from the booking we would either have a balcony or a outside terrace as most of the apartments seem to have.  However we did have a lovely view from our conservatory. Although there were plenty of sunbeds by the pool & in another area outside there were no tables or chairs where we could have sat outside if we wanted to sit upright rather than in a reclining sunbed! The lady who did the cleaning was very helpful.  We only met Jose when we arrived but I emailed a couple of times during our stay & received very prompt replies/service which was much appreciated. The location was quite convenient for touring around the island, walks & only 30 minutes drive to the airport.We had a couple of tasty meals in the nearby restaurants of Carmen & Frangipani. All in all we had an enjoyable stay.  Thank-you.

Clean appartement with a beautiful view. Easy to reach from the airport. Located near a supermarket. Nights can be cold but no complaints !
