I stayed in at least 15 hostales in the area. This one is by the worst. Paper-thin walls and plywood doors mean that you will hear each single move, snore, moan out of 20 rooms. As a professional air quality auditor I carry my instruments. The carbon dioxide level reach dangerous to your health 1700-2000 ppm within an hour in the room. Guaranteed sleepless night or a massive headache in the morning  No fresh air coming in at all. Fan in the room is not working, bathroom extractor makes noise, but does not extract. The requirement is for  minimum 8 l/sec of fresh air per person with less than 0.5 l/sec measured. 
Not a single sprinkler, smoke detector of fire extinguisher is in the room. And hardly any in the corridor. Definitely not sufficient for safe evacuation of tens of people from the 5-story wooden building with wooden staircase. Now you might work out why it’s cheaper - in any other developed country the owners will be in jail for such a disregard to safety and comfort.  

Noisy, uncomfortable and unsafe

The hostal is at the 4th floor of a big and really old building, is located near the Metro Station and there are lots of restaurants, bars, and shops around. The Fuencarral area and street where the hostal is located, was a very famous neighborhood several years ago, so thats why is very well located. YOu can go by walking distance to La GRan Via and Puerta del Sol. There are many funny bars around where you can find locals and very good local food. THe Staff at the Hotel is vey Friendly and Helpful, they are happy to help and kindly give you any recomendations of whats around. The Room Is OK and have the basics, the bathroom is small, but since is a very old building is well manteined. I liked and we stayed for two nights, was really ok for what we needed.
