Tourist Farm Šenkova Domačija

We explored a lot of Gorenjska region in Slovenia but somehow neglected Jezersko region. As we searched for the right camp sight we came accross Šenkova domačija farmstead camping. It looked nice so we booked it. I must say, upper Jezersko is even more charming than our usual destinations in Slovenia. Kamping is a little diamant in the middle of paradise. It is a quiet grassy campsite with spaces for tents, mobile homes and all inbetween. Toilets and showers are clean and everything is nested on a renovated farm with a rich history. We loved the chickens strolling freely among the tents and campsite and the master of the grounds, the nicest dog you have ever seen. The staff is nice and pleasant. Please note that this is a farm. Do not expect the owners to jump around your city needs since they have a farm to run. They also have extremly lovley appartments to rent. Sorroundings of the farm is very nice and you can do a lot. Biking, hiking, climbing and if you dare you can swimm in a near (300m) Planšarsko lake. The lake is quite cold but in summer it is a perfect refreshment. If you want some Wim Hoff, you should go on the other side of the lake, where a mountain spring runs in to the lake. There is a store near by in a smal town and a petrol station. The best thing about the campsite and the hole farm is a one of a kind view of Storžič peak and Grintavec peak on the left. Everything in between is all green and nerv relaxing scene which can not be matched so easily. Back to camp. I must say that the camp is peacefull and there are no parties to be expected. It is a family oriented and for those who seek adventure in nature. It is also a good spot for discovering Slovenia. Jezersko pass is just a drive away and you can visit Austria with you bicycle or on foot. Jezersko pass is a sports car and bike heaven with a mountain road twisted just right enough. Please note to be cearfull for the bicyclists and mointeniers. Enjoy the sceenery rather than riding like a moron. At the farm you can ejoy at their litle tavern or visit a restaurant at the lake where you can try some slovenian traditiona dishes. The owner of the farm is an experienced mountain skier and climber so if you have something to ask, he is the person to talk to. You dont need to worry about nothing at the camp. You have a kitchen where you can store your perishable food because you can use the refridgirator and a freezer. Please have in mind to label your food with a departure date because every monday, they throw away food which is not labled. Makes sense. You can use a stowe and microwave and there is enough sinks for prepearing food and washing dishes. Electricity at camsitr is available. Just ask the person who will show you the site. There is plenty of shade and dont worry if you only have the sunny spots left. Even in august temperatures during the day are not as nearly as high as in the walley and the evenings and nights can be quite chilly. So dont forget to bring something warm to wear eve thoungh in the summer. There is a pitfire spot in the camp with firewood and an axe provided. You can use it as you wish. You can even participate with some of the farm chores if you desire but you have to ask the staff about that. All and all it is a perfect campsite to relax and enjoy Upper Jezersko. We recommend it a lot. We will be back for sure.
