Very good hotel, 15 minutes from Doha, 20 minutes from Messaied public beach, right next to highway. Rooms are large with separate bedroom and big living room with sofas, tables, chairs, a kitchen is also extra. Breakfasts and dinner are served at hotel roof terrace with nice sea view. Personel is very helpfull. I have stayed two times, 6+1 week and very satisfied. Breakfasts are kind of english with slightly changing selection during week. There is nothing in walking distance, unless You wait for sunset and go 10 minutes to see the shop streets. AC is necessary and works fine here.

Very good for long stay

This is a very good hotel, 15 minutes from Doha, 20 minutes from Messaied public beach. The hotel is built as suites, small but certainly adequate, with a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bath. The bed was one of the most comfortable on my entire trip but there was no luggage rack, so I balanced my suitcase on two chairs. The living room features a nice flat screen tv

There is nothing in walking distance, Here uber is god and will take you to rest of the places. two buses comes to this location i.e 10901 and 12901. I stayed here on official trip.

Good hotel but far from tourist location

I visited the Addar Hotel in Alwakra in March 2013. The hotel is relatively new, with signs of construction on the property and even in the building. The layout is convenient and the prices were reasonable, but there are some flaws in this facility that prevent it from being a recommended stop.

First, most of the staff were very helpful but English was not common. So be ready for some confusions and misunderstandings. Also, when checking out they could not accept ANY of my credit cards -- no idea why -- but my local guy had to come and bail me out with cash. That's a bit worrying. Also, they could not print a summary of the hotel invoice. Maybe some staff training is required.

The hotel is about 15 minutes from the Doha airport, right along the airport road, about 50 Qatar riyal by taxi (use the meter!). Bring small bills -- my taxi driver claimed "not enough cash" so I ended up over-paying. The location itself is very convenient. But Alwakra is a town with nothing going on, so if you don't have a car you will be trapped in the hotel. There's no place to walk, to shop, to get a coffee, or to sit and read a paper. That may be fine -- it depends upon your trip and your arrangements.

The hotel is built as suites, small but certainly adequate, with a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bath. The bed was one of the most comfortable on my entire trip but there was no luggage rack, so I balanced my suitcase on two chairs. The living room features a nice flat screen tv with about a zillion channels by satelite, but I couldn't make it work (the staff tech guy came and got me BBC and I kept it on that one channel for my entire stay). I used the dining table as my desk, and had to drag it around the room to find an electrical outlet I could reach for my computer. That's a nuisance, but I've been similarly inconvenienced at much more expensive hotels. Bring an extension cord.

The kitchen is plain but clearly functional. The bathroom features a sink that's too small and no shelf space for your shaving kit. The shower is one of those plastic cubicals that they simply deliver and install; that being said it worked fine although it was a bit tight for a guy my size.

On the third floor is a small restaurant, and they were thrilled to have a western visitor; I mean this sincerely. They could not have been more welcoming or friendly. The breakfast was modest but acceptable and their coffee was surprisingly good. So for 25 riyals, it was a good value. Also, I had one dinner at the hotel as well, and it was pleasant. There's an outdoor balcony with a nice view of the very, very distant Persian Gulf.

The wifi worked fast and reliably with no hassles.

About Alwakra -- of course there's no bar at this hotel nor in the town; no place to get a wee dram after a hard day of sales calls; but that's life in this region. Also, the traffic noise of the vehicles on the Airport Road is louder than it should be... you could hear the trucks rumbling by all day and night. Lastly, this airport is directly under the approach path into Doha Airport, so don't complain about the jet noise because there's no thing anybody can do. I

Overall, I would probably stay there again, simply because it is so convenient, but staying in Doha itself would definitely be more fun.
