My girlfriends and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting the Algarve region.  The place is absolutely gorgeous just as pictured. Picturesque pool. Luxe Aesop products. And so private as there are only a handful of rooms that you feel like you have the whole place to yourself.  We stayed in Qassim (2 bedrooms) which was perfect for 5 girls. Can't speak more highly of the decor and the beautiful setting but above all, the owner Sarah was beyond lovely. She even made us the loveliest breakfast spread after our first night at 2 in the afternoon because we overslept...and each morning thereafter. We are city girls but did not mind that the place was remotely located. In fact, I think that makes this place extra special. And everything is very close by. I would go back to Casa Arte in a heart beat. Obrigada Sarah!!!

I spent 3 nights at this amazing boutique hotel. I went with my 1.5yo daughter and a friend. The hotel is just beautiful. Breakfast is so fresh and delicious (it only starts at 9 which is a little late especially for kids but it's so good that it's worth the wait!). We also ordered a massage to our room and it was fantastic! Sara the owner is very nice. The only problem we had was finding the hotel. There are no signs in the road and we spent more than an hour looking for it. You need a car if you will stay there. Would definitely stay here again! 

Fabulous place for a couple of days. Beautifully designed house, great attention to detail, lovely manicured gardens and relaxing pool, with excellent breakfast. 

Only small issue is a personal one. Lagos wasn't really for us as it was teeming and very touristy, so you do need to be prepared to drive out to the amazing beaches and further if you want to experience the western Algarve more than Lagos. 

We chose to stay at Casa Arte largely because of the glowing reviews. While the hotel is nicely situated, breakfast is wonderful, the grounds are beautiful, and the owner is very nice, there are two things to note. First, you will not feel as if you're in Portugal -- the place caters to foreign tourists -- English or Dutch are the only languages spoken at the hotel. The owner does, however, know the region well and gave us great tips for traditional local flavors, difficult to find in the Algarve. Second, this hotel does not have air conditioning or fans in the rooms. The rooms themselves can feel very claustrophobic. The Algarve can be very pleasant on summer evenings, but it can also be very hot. Due to the layout of the place, room windows need to be shut at night -- you cannot sleep with your window open and enjoy the fresh evening air because of lack of privacy, and the noise from a nearby highway. We did not find any mention of these shortcomings in previous reviews, and thought we should flag them to future visitors. All in all, the value for money is excellent, especially if you are not bothered by being somewhat claustrophobic in your room on hot evenings. It should also be noted that the fabulous breakfast is only served after 9 am, which may be a problem for early birds.

Wonderful place to stay in Lagos!

Beware the glowing reviews

We stayed here just one night and whilst the place itself is beautiful and very well looked after, it is not without its flaws. 

First and foremost, we specifically chose the place due to its website offering a hotel and restaurant. Only upon completing the booking and asking for a table in the restaurant on the Friday night was I told that there is no restaurant as it has since closed. The website and literature in the room still speak of the opportunity for dinner, which I think should be removed. 

I was also very surprised at being charged for the bottle of water in the room, having been told it is best to use to make coffee in the room. Only on asking was I told that the coffee in the room had to be paid for too - not something I've ever come across in a hotel room. The explanation was that it 'belonged to the minibar'(?). If travelling with a family as we were with our 1 year old daughter, you may find other places more welcoming of children too. 

The stay was pleasant, the breakfast great and the owner helpful but I would consider on the whole the stay to have been 'average' instead of very good or excellent.
