I’d give this hotel 2 or 2.5 stars if it weren’t for incredibly ridiculous booking policies.

The hotel was listed as Reddoorz on booking.com.  The directions to the hotel were incorrect, there was no sign on the building, the email and phone numbers supplied were incorrect.  It was only fate that we were able to find the hotel (6th floor of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines bldg.)  The listing said they accept credit cards however they only accept cash.

After all the trouble getting there and returning with cash the clerk checked us in with very limited conversation and no smile.  Later I learned that it may be a language barrier as another clerk was great.

Our room was large with 2 single beds (with 10cm foam mattresses) and a love seat and a 32” flatscreen tv.  There was also a small table and a couple chairs.  There are no pictures, dressers or other decor.  No coffee pot or microwave.  The bathroom is reasonable.

The rooms price was reasonable for what you get however they have a very very strict no return policy and you must book, they don’t accept walk ins.  If you book a room you WILL pay for that room type.  If you realize you don’t want that room type (I.e. two single beds instead of two doubles etc.   you will be charged for both and the desk clerks either do not know this or don’t tell you.  

Be very certain you know what room type you want/need before booking!


Poor policies

We stayed at the BP for 3 nights on recommendation from prior guestS who were here 3 years ago. The hotel has deteriorated from the descriptions we were given. Rooms are typically small as you would expect but we’re sufficient. The hotel is showing its age! 

We booked non-smoking rooms and were placed on a non-smoking floor. This did not seem to be that important to other guests as we encountered smoking several times on each day. The smoking clean up cost ($5,000 HK) deterrent doesn’t work as it seems smoking occurs regularly and primarily in the hallways. The hotel staff offered to relocate us, but there is no point - all non-smoking floors suffer same issue. This is a procedural problem the hotel needs to take greater effort to solve. 

Otherwise, staff was mostly pleasant, great breakfast, bid Chinese and Western buffet in the evening if you are into that (we were not). VERY hard beds - ask for a mattress topper - they are thin but they help a bit. 

Be careful if you are a non-smoker

i would like to call your attention as I couldn’t  leave a bad review in booking.com, because they cancelled my stay and got my money back after getting BEDBUGS!!! 

The rooms are very basic although spacious and the bed looked ok. few hours later I have this rush all over my legs extremely itchy and when I go to reception they don’t show any surprise or I received an apology after my explanation. I started questioning her and asking if she understood what is that? The only answer I get is we will refund you the money. I had to ask for an apology?? absolutely disgusting and really bad service

I hope you don’t come across the same problem! It was good I had medicine from previous time as unfortunately is not the first time it happened to me catching bedbugs traveling in Asia and in short period of time! 

Don’t wat to put you off, just be careful when you choose places to stay, I have been in hostels and never happened anything and the two places did actually were 3-4 stars. Shouldn’t happened in this kind of category places.

Don’t Stay in Zen rooms BP international- Manila

I was there for 4 nights. It was Just a place with privacy. Coz i was there for Scout event, no formal housekeeping will come to you. All by your own. Actually, i liked this somehow. And you get see the SM mall in 2mins, where you can get everything. And. 1min to 7Eleven. 

Groups, Location 

This hotel is located at the heart of busy City of Manila. It is located just beside SM City Manila. It took us almost 2 hours in locating the said hotel because of the very heavy traffic surrounding the area. We choose the mixed dormitory accommodation where there are 5 beds in the room. As far as I can remember, a night stay at the said room costs me only 650 pesos. There is a cabinet but no keys are given, so useless. There is a CR in the room, aircon is good, there is TV and lavatory. Charging stations are everywhere. I had a good night sleep with the hotel because I am with my friends. But if you are a solo backpacker, then you have to be careful with your belongings. As I said, their individual locker/cabinet doesn't have keys at all. And also, their is a shower. 2 service elevators. Reception area is at the 6th floor of the building.

"Good accommodation when you are in a budget"

When in Manila City, try this budget hotel in the center of Manila. It is located near and in front of SM City Manila.

The room accommodation rate is affordable. The room is spacious. No problem for dining because the place
has neighboring restaurants and fast food center inside SM City.

Best Budget Hotel

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel.
Two weeks before check-in, I was charged 1 night for guarantee booking via card. 

I still had to pay 3 nights upon check-in. I was told by the property that guarantee booking charged to my card will be refunded 2-4 weeks

It took them 2 weeks to reply to my email. Six weeks in and still no refund. A lot of hassle trying to get the refund.

Booking experience

We booked already the 4th time in this Hotel which is very convenient because is just opposite SM Manila. The rooms are very big, simple but clean, the shower with warm water and TV. It's real value for money!
