Very good
805 reviewsWe have just returned from a lovely week at the Vestlia. The hotel has increased in size since our last visit but has been beautifully done. The different lounge / bar areas allow for an area to relax after the slopes, whilst drinking the free tea/coffee available for guests. I would recommend booking the spa in advance if you want to relax around the pool. The main pool is available but of course this is open for children, so much busier and louder. We did not use the main pool but looked very nice if you are with children. The dinner at the hotel was delicious, although more vegetarian options would have been nice. There were only two veggie options and whilst they were lovely it became quite repetitive, so we did not eat at the hotel restaurant everyday. During the week the restaurant at both dinner and breakfast were very quiet but this changed massively at the weekend. The staff managed this change in numbers well and breakfast remained topped up and tables cleared quickly. The room was clean, spacious, warm and comfortable with plenty of cupboard space. However, the walls were VERY thin. We were lucky the hotel was not full and due to being in term time, during the week there was not too many people. Unfortunately, when it came to the weekend a family with loud children that were not supervised arrived. We could hear them everytime they were in the corridor, running up and down and banging on our door. Whilst this is not the hotels fault at all, the thin walls did worsen this. The hotel is perfectly located by the bottom of the slopes, next to the hire shop and cafe. The cafe was great for a mid day break. There are other places on the slopes that are worthing stopping at, our favourites being the vin bar (small but amazing views and great wine) and kikut bistro (lovely staff, food and hot chocolate). Whilst at the Vestlia we also did an evening snow-shoeing, our guide met us at the reception to the hotel and took us out, giving us local information and a tour of the hidden spots you would not see otherwise. There wasn't a lot of choice in the town for food but it was just a short walk (20-30minutes ish), or during the day you could get the ski shuttle (free with your lift pass), so definitely worth a visit at least once. The shuttle bus also takes you to the other side of the valley where there is more slopes of all types. The bus runs every 15 minutes during the day so you are never left waiting long. Overall, the hotel and staff were great. Offering the perfect balance of modern and Scandinavian vibes. We would definitely return but outside of school holidays as the weekend gave us a glimpse of how busy the hotel can get.
