This trip was booked for my dad's 60th birthday, us kids booked it for him and my mom to go away together to see the Kaukenhof Gardens. It'd have been great if it wasn't for the ladder they had to climb up to the room (my mom has got spinal hernia) which made it very difficult. Not to mention the kettle was downstairs so to have coffee/tea you had to climb the ladder up to the attic with the boiling water??? If I'd known that I wouldn't have booked this for them. Also, their room looked to the main square with a funfare which was incredibly noisy into the night.

Should have stated that the room was up in the attic and there were no stairs but a very steep ladder - it wasn't safe for my parents in their 60s and I was very disappointed and unhappy hearing their feedback as it was a gift!!!

After our flight to Amsterdam, we got the 300 bus directly to Haarlem station it costs €5 for the journey. The B and B is a 10 minute walk from the station and is very easy to find just head towards the Grote Markt, there are signs pointing you there.

Once we reached the B and B and were warmly greeted, our bags were carried up the steep steps, let the owners do this. We stopped in double room 2 which was very spacious and had a lovely en suite, there is free tea and coffee, also up the top there is a free minibar to use. 

We slept well, the rooms can make a little noise mainly because the house is so old a few hundred years, they provided ear plugs which we didn't need. The breakfast was continental, a selection of breads, ham, cheese, jams, fresh orange juice and tea and coffee. Very filling.

On checking out we paid for the room, and they stored our luggage all do so we were free to explore the city one last time. Next time we are back in Haarlem we will book again.

Made our stay enjoyable 

Very nice B&B for a great price. Very central on the Markt, good beds and nice breakfast. Would certainly recommend this. However, do keep in mind there are no rooms on the ground floor and the stairs are very steep.

Good price for great B&B

We were welcomed very warmly on our arrival and were taken to our room on the first floor (one floor up from the ground). We found the traditional Dutch stairs (the building is from the 16th century) not as challenging as one might expect (and I am a big fellow). Our luggage was carried up for us and down when we checked out. Our room was over the Grote Markt, so there was some noise during the night, but they do provide earplugs. There is an open air market in the Grote Markt every Saturday and Monday. It's assembly takes place early in the morning, but it is not all that noisy. As we had forgotten to pack a power adapter, they had one for us to use. The brasserie downstairs is excellent, and the provided breakfast consists of cheese, ham, breads and various spreads (including "hagelslag"), yogurt, orange juice and choice of coffee or tea. As breakfast is at 10:00, they will pack you a sack with sandwiches, etc. and place it in the refrigerator on the second floor if you notify them that you will have an early departure the next morning. All of the staff is very friendly and give you a true sense of coziness. The Haarlem train station is a ten minute walk from the hotel. A shorter walk will take you to the bus line 300 with direct access to Schiphol Airport, or a short ride to the train station. This is a great location with Amsterdam a short 15 minute train ride from the station. This experience made our first trip to the Netherlands (and Europe) one that we will never forget. Friendly, accomodating, and a cozy experience

Our ticket back from Europe to Peru resulted with a two days KLM in Schiphol and not wanting to submerge in the big city of Amsterdam we tock advantage of the nearby historic city of Haarlem and its beautiful dunes and Nordsea beach, instead of staying in buisy Amsterdam. After a very busy agenda this was a great decision, since it was very easy, cheap and fast to go from Schiphol by train and com back by bus from Haarlem. We really spend an unforgettable and easy-going time there (environment of historic Dutch city, beautiful architecture, museums, nice restaurants, dunes and beach). Al this would not have been possible with a special and nice place to stay. We think we really made a great find with L'Anders B&B right on the Main Square (Grote Markt) with nice and clean rooms, a beautiful view, a great breakfast, good room rates and very friendly and caring people. We really recommend Haarlem and specially L'Anders.
