We spent only one night in this wonderful place. After having stayed in different cities and only high end luxury hotels we have mostly been dissapointed with the quality and service level we encountered throughout Morocco. When we got to Meknes we where absolutely happy with the way we have been welcomed in this Riad. Our daughter said that she felt like home and we could only agree with that. A wonderfull authentic place run by an energetic wonderfull women and great staff. For us it was a highlight of our 3 weeks Morocco tour.

This is a really fantastic riad - in every way. Fatima is such a wonderful host, so friendly and warm, and couldn't do enough for us. She ordered taxis, contacted restaurants, ordered food to the riad when we wanted to eat in and even gave me a lift to Carrefour supermarket so I could buy food for our next journey. She is also a mine of local information.  The rooms and communal areas are beautifully decorated and designed to give a really authentic Moroccan feel.  We were only sorry that the weather was such that we weren't able to take advantage of the roof terrace!

We stayed here in December for 4 nights.  It was cold, but the heaters in the rooms kept them perfectly warm. The location is very good as it's in a quiet part of the medina.  The breakfasts are traditional and filling, and Fatima provided an alternative breakfast for a person in our group with allergies to gluten and dairy. Fatima is a special person who made our stay in Meknes one that we will not forget.  She went well beyond what most hosts will do for their guests, and made sure we had all the advice we needed and made great recommendations. It was my birthday and she even let us make a cake in her kitchen, then took us over to the communal oven to bake it.  We really did feel like we were at home and if we return to Meknes, we will only stay here.

The rooms are mediocre, but the host is so welcoming and helpful in providing recommendations, directions, reservations, transportation, etc.  You are actually staying in her home, and you experience her pride in hospitality.  We were celebrating a friends birthday while we stayed and were able to use the kitchen and guided to the communal oven to make a birthday cake.  Our stay was unforgettable.

What a fabulous place!

A Special Place

Fun Stay in Fez

This is a difficult review to write, given how kind Fatima, the owner was to us. She was very hospitable, but even her kind hospitality couldn't make up for our dilapidated room. When we first saw the room, I asked if she had another available, and she said no, this was an upgrade, and there would be no extra charge. Here's what was not good about the room: the bed was uneven on the floor, so when we sat on it it wobbled, and felt unstable; the toilet also wobbled when we sat on it; the shower head to be hand held because the bracket to hold it was broken off the wall; the ceiling and walls had pieces of paint peeling off; the electrical outlet to charge our phones was literally hanging out of the wall; the bath towels were small and very thin; we almost ran out of toilet paper and there was no extra roll; and to top it all off, the credit card terminal wasn't working so we had to find a money machine to withdraw cash pay her. On the plus side, the room heater did work, the bed was not uncomfortable as it looked, and Fatima was very kind to us. But we were so glad to get out of there! The photos are lovely and seductive. Perhaps we came on a bad day, but we would not recommend the place.
