Anwar and his staff were amazing, and would go beyond expectation, their service are amazing, very kind and friendly staff. They took care of us from the first days we arrived when taxi dropped us, till last minute before we left. Gave good advices, highly recommend staying here.

Amazing service, good location.

Very welcoming and relatively close to all you want to see in Fes.  View from the rooftop is also very nice.  The only thing is my cellphone data didn’t work well in the area as it’s located down the hill, so I recommend downloading a map in advance.  Overall, people were nice, price were nice, riad was nice, so 5/5.

It might be a little hard to find but worth the effort.  The riad courtyard is beautiful.  The room we had was spacious and comfortable,  liked the shower. View from the terrace was nice. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.  We had dinner there the first night due to travel and chose to again our last night there because it was good.  On the edge of the medina, you will need to carry your bags a little.  A unique experience,  the owner had a person come in to sing after dinner our first night. I don't have the experience or vocabulary to do it justice.  So beautiful.  Probably not an everyday occurrence. Anwar saw to most day to day needs.  Nice, interesting person.

Great unique stay, a highlight

All aspects of the Riad, staff, location, Brilliant!  Highly recommended!

This riad is one of the more beautiful we encountered on our trip to Morocco. Designed to elicit style but not cold. All staff went far beyond to make sure to assist with any concerns a tourist has. Wonderful place to stay while in Rabat.

High style and hospitality

Lovely house, a real haven, pictures don't really do it justice, very warm and personal hosts with good service and advice for tourists, top-notch air conditioners made it very comfortable.  Airport pickup they sent was superb.  Tried dinner one night, it was delicious and classier than your standard medina restaurant although still a little too pricy.  Location is in a quieter part of the city which I liked, and just off the marked green route.

My husband and I stayed for three nights at this beautiful dar in April, and had a very good experience overall. We were in the blue room on the top floor, which was spacious and exquisitely decorated- more like an apartment than a room! And just steps outside was the terrace with a panoramic view of Fez. For our first two nights, I think we were the only guests in the dar, and on the third night, several more families appeared, which made it more lively. Since we were on the top floor, our room was quiet the whole stay. 

Breakfast was great every morning, and we had a delicious dinner one night (vegetarian for me). The staff were very helpful, assisting us with finding a pharmacy when my husband got a cold and helping us with transportation for our luggage when leaving.

A couple of things to keep in mind if you stay here- the staff and owners are primarily French speaking. Also, the dar is in a quiet area of the medina, away from the main attractions and restaurants in Fez, so you will need to be ready to take a bit longer walk or take a taxi. This shouldn’t be an issue during the day and/or in good weather, but we found this to be more challenging in the rain and after dark.

As many have noted, Fez can be tricky to navigate. Google maps can be a big help. Here are our directions to the dar from the train station (as of April- hopefully the landmarks haven’t changed!): 

Take a taxi to Bab Ziat
Go straight past the pharmacy and a big door with the number 22
When the paved road ends, turn right onto the cobbled road
Follow green signs for Ain Azliten downhill. You will go past a taekwondo sign and Palais Abdeslam Moqri as the road winds around downhill. 
At the fourth green sign, you will see a view of the city in front of you and a sign that says Oued Souafine. Turn right into a small street. 
The Dar is the sixth door on right, and is a brown door. Ring the doorbell.

Beautiful dar in the medina!

The hotel is in a beautiful old building with a courtyard in the middle.  The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and happy to help with directions and ideas of what to do.  The owner also hired a guide for us.  Dinner is great (but be prepared to settle in for a multi-course meal).  The terrace has a great view out over the old city.  The only thing to be aware of is that (like, I would imagine, many places of a similar age and style), the bedroom can be fairly cold in the colder months, even with the heater on.

Loved staying at this peaceful Riad. As a group of three females we were perfectly happy to walk from here to the sights of old Fes - which were stunning. We opted to stay here because we wanted to eat at the riad In the evening - we were never disappointed with the stunning food that Chantal provided including for my vegetarian (grown up) daughters. The view from the terrace over the medina of Fes was great - no need to go up to the Merinides tombs at sunset. They also organised a pick up from the airport and a driver/guide for a day trip to Meknes/Volubilis. The rooms were visually stunning and the bathrooms were full of character but didn't sacrifice comfort.

Peaceful Riad with excellent Vegetarian food

We had the distinct pleasure of staying with Mme. Chantal in her lovely riad for two nights in October!  Making our stay even better was the fact my wife, me and our 2 friends were the only guests, so we had her undivided attention.  Our room was on the top floor with a large deck overlooking Fes - an amazing view!  

As spectacular as the room and the view were, the best part was the food!  Delicious, 5-course, French dining at its finest!

All-in-all, a wonderful experience which I cannot recommend highly enough!  Please look into staying with Mme. Chantal if you ever find yourself in Fes!
