The hotel grounds are just lovely and it is very quiet. The pool is clean and cool and the courtyard is a welcoming space to spend time in. We had a dinner included with our tour that was tasty and the buffet breakfast the next morning was good enough, although the ham tasted a little off, to be honest. Our room was very nice - tucked away in one part of the riad, with the main hall area decorated with artwork from along the ancient trade route. Each room is named after a stop on that network, which is kind of cool.

Our air conditioning worked very well and the room was well-appointed, but I found the beds too hard for my taste and did not have a good night sleep. By far the firmest bed I’ve ever slept on. But that was the only real negative. 

Quiet Oasis

We made a reservation on booking, and when we arrived the hotel manager told us that all the rooms are full and we have to find another hotel to stay in. It was almost midnight so that was very difficult. He pointed us to the hotel across the street, but that hotel was expensive, very cold and had no hot water. The manager also told us to cancel our reservation, which means we had to pay for cancelation. 
The hotel also has a lot of stray cats just running around and walking on the furniture. There is a high chance od getting a disease. 
I do not reccomand this hotel to anybody!! Don't go there. It was terrible! Just terrible.

Horrible!

SCAM ALERT, DOES NOT CARE ABOUT BOOKING RESERVATIONS, DOES NOT FEEL SAFE, SCAM ALERT! 

So we visited Fès as a group of four students. We got cheap flight tickets ad cheap booking- hotel Tombouktou (or so we thought... 😡)

We arrived at midnight to the very dark and shady enterance of the medina. Taxi ripped us off with the "I don't have change" trick and as we got to our hotel (Tombouktou) the owner said he was fully booked for the night and can't accept us... Although we had a reservation on booking! So he decided to "do us a favor" and he took us to a hotel across the street. Both the owner of the new place and him told us that this hotel is more expensive and "better", and was double the price for a 4 beds bedroom. We told the Tombouktou manager that this is not acceptable but he was very unfriendly.. and told us he will accept us tomorrow and that we have to cancel our booking because that's their "policy" ? .. We had no choice but to accept to stay in that hotel across the street, because it was nearly midnight. The room was cold and they promised us hot water but there was none.. So the next day we checked tripadvisor and people actually had to spend the night outside, so.. I thik we were actually lucky... We woke up early and found another place on tripadvisor called Riad la bauge de kenza, they accepted us and were very friendly, had hot water and private rooms and was about the same price as the hotel across the street of Tambouktou - where the manager will scam you if you will arrive at night (I have a feeling its a power play they do if you arrive late because you litteraly have no other option than accept if you don't want to stay on the streets scared of being robbed. 

So book somewhere else or you will end up paying more than you planned for a place that doesn't feel safe and is generally not worth it.. Rather go for a more expensive on web but the same price in reality, in the first place.

We stayed here for a week long holiday in December and had an amazing stay. This is not the Ibiss, or Hilton. With that being said, we had everything we needed. The rooms are clean, albeit a bit dated, and our television did not work, but we spent very little time in the room itself. We spent our time roaming the medina and enjoying the sun on the patio. The hotel is located at the entrance to the medina, so its perfect for exploring. It's also a perfect location to get a cab or be picked up by a tour guide. The staff is great to ask about recommendations for what to see and can arrange a tour for you- we compared pricing and they were always a better price than others. We were always welcomed with smiles and all of the mint tea we could want, complimentary of course. While the medina was a great place to visit, and the staff always helpful in recommending where to visit, the real treat was in the hospitality. We were truly humbled and left feeling more like friends than guests. We enjoyed the conversation, the food, and the friendship. We will be back and will always recommend a stay here. It ended up being so much more than we could have imagined! Thank you for the amazing food and the chance to get to know your family, friends and another side of Moracco. Home away from Home

We stayed 3 days in Tomboukto. We really enjoyed here. The location of the hotel is perfect, not to crowded. Nice people and very friendly atmosphere. With beautiful big terrace and very comfortable and cosy rooms. We would for sure come here again!!

Perfect

they welcomed us beautifully , the people their were nice , the rooms have beautiful views and  lovely little candles being lit every night all over the room , and mint tea whenever we needed , it tasted amazing by the way , the food was better then i expected Nothing short of feeling like royalty. Thank you for a beautiful stay.

wonderful experience

This "hotel" was my worst accommodation experience so far. 
Me and my friend booked online 2 single rooms at this hotel. When we arrived, we were told there are no rooms free and the hotel staff sent us to a hotel on the opposite side of the streets. However, there was only one room available. So we returned to the hotel Tomboukto and demanded our booked rooms. After some back and forth the guy from the reception took us to some rooms, which were basically some kind of a storage room (when I put it in nice words). The door was not possible to close, the windows were not possible to close. There was no private bathroom which we booked. And it was incredibly dirty. So we denied to stay in those rooms for the money we paid. The guy from the reception called then the owner and I spoke to him explaining the situation and what we were given. The owner was rude and insulting us, so there was no sense to continue in the conversation and we left. We didn’t find any hotel in Fes after all and stayed the night on the street. Its unbelievable that even though we booked the rooms 20 days ahead, we stayed in the end without any accommodation.

The worst of the worst

The only thing nice about this place is the terrace, other than that, the room was dirty, the sheets hadn't been changed, (there were hairs on the sheets). The staff wasn't very useful, they didn't manage to give us any basic information about the town when we asked, they had to go and find the owner each time you asked them a question. The owner himself was quite unfriendly and didn't tell us much , just to eat in the restaurant he owns in front of the hotel. We had paid two nights and only stayed one.

Dirty place, unfriendly staff

The rooms dont have security... I try to switch the room and they gave me another tinny one whitout light... I ask for a bulb, and they gave me a bad one...
Then i realise that there' not lock in that room also... I try to explain the owner and he seems to be an idiot.

I ask for my money back and i left.
