Sweet boy took his sweet girl to isla Holbox for 3 days using this company and it was a bit of a disaster.

Here’s what happened to sweet boy:

1. We got moved from the main complex to a little appartment in a pretty crappy part of town, without much notice or explanation
2. We lost power for the first night so goodbye to sweet boys aircon and even water usage.
3. We ran out of toilet paper and had bugs all over the bathroom at night time.

The local manager tried to make things better and he was very genuine, the problem with this place is with the owner. He left really vague location information, he moved us out of the main area and made us pay premium prices for inferior room down the road.

The pool area and restaraunt are actually quite nice and it would have been good to stay there so sweet boys advice is just book with caution at this place as you can see other reviewers have had cancellations in the past as well with similar scenarios.

Sweetboy gets an unsavory deal

We stayed at the Cielito Hotel for a little less than a week and we really liked the way the hotel is build with bungalows and a open restaurant. The location was perfect for us, in the more calm end of the island and with a direct and short distance and road to the beach. We had a really nice stay and the staff was really kind. But the rooms, the bedding and the pool wasn’t as clean as hoped. Even though the rooms were cleaned everyday... (never really saw the pool get cleaned and there was a lot of dead insects in it). Except for one morning the toilets couldn’t flush when we woke up every morning and up till 4-6 hours forward. And that was not just our room. Some mornings people were getting desperate and emptied their trash cans from the rooms and got water from the pool, to make it flush so they could go to the toilet. Not a great experience. And... it was not that important for us, but the WiFi was not existing in our room and very sporadic in the other areas of the hotel. 

Nice hotel with flaws

Both my mom and I loved staying at Cielito Lindo! I highly recommend it this quaint plane where children and families all feel welcome! One block only from the beach and the prices are very reasonable. For every question I had, they gave me great honest recommendations. The breakfast was delicious and the staff are so kind! They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable! Jerson helped us daily with taxis and like where the router was for the best internet signal. Alejandro gave us the best massage referral on the beach within 2 minutes walking distance. The owner gave us a historical account of the island and how they are only the 2nd hotel built in the year 2000! It's a special place and we'll be back for sure!!!

Great friendly place very near the beach!

WiFi only works in common areas, not the rooms, and only worked intermittently around the pool. Is you sit at the restaurant or pool deck, it doesn't work. So effectively, they don't have Wi-Fi. Very frustrating when I had to do some things for work.
A block from the beach but then have to pay for a chair or hammock. 
Good restaurant. Nice pool. Nice staff. 
Rooms have fan and ac. Shower is a trickle from a conch shell. 

WiFi doesn't work

Huge disappointment. This is the first time this has ever happened, but after paying for our reservation through TripAdvisor, this company called Cancelon wrote me to say the reservation was cancelled and that we could stay at this alternate accommodation which was much lower in standard and not at all what we were looking for. This situation has been dragging on for weeks- and now we have non-refundable tickets and nowhere to stay for our family of 4 - it's over the xmas holidays and everything else in our price range is booked. They really screwed us over. Huge disappointment. Buyer Beware- and also, don't trust TripAdvisor.

They cancelled our reservation without warning

Don't b deceived by the pictures. Upon arrival at this place, I will not call it a hotel. After a 11hr flight and 3hour car journy with boat and mud taxi ,I was met by things I had not seen after 14years as a soldier living in some very grotty and dirty locations. Upon arrival we were met by a very jovial bearded gentleman. Upon putting my hand on the reception counter I looked to my left and saw a cat sat on the counter. This reminded me of Greece in the early 80s. 
This was uncomfortable but to my disgust the cat was eating its food off the counter,not in a bowl but spread across the counter.
Further a second cat was in a corner eating out of a bag of cat food. This I found later was over a map pile that I was given a map from.
Upon being escorted to room 44, I was totally disgusted with its standard, it was not rustic but a disgusting tip. I have stayed in better fix holes in the ground.
Dirty grey towels , bedding that looked as though it had already been slept in. Blinds that left 3 inches either side for people to look in. Toilet lock as the security on the front door.
Air con that was so noisy I didn't sleep for 3 nights.

Plus side the food and staff in aroma was or were good.

Finally there is no swim up pool bar and during three days the pool water was filtered once.

As to Holbox, the island is an experience

Definitely Not worth what we paid for, it was sold as a 3 star but felt like a 2. Since we got in to the room the A/C wasn’t cooling properly, we notified the person at the lobby who just came with the maintenance staff to make sure the remote was working and said it was fine (If it was fine I wouldn’t have complained in the first place) lucky for us it started raining in the afternoon so I cooled off… didn’t get a response or any other king of solution from the 2 people staff. 
Again it was raining and its a hustle to move in the island like that so we went for dinner at the restaurant downstairs which is also part at the hotel, we got there at 9.30 I know this because the person in charged made it very clear that we had to order and eat fast because they where closing at 10, so we did we ate and by 10:15 asked for the check, also got a complaint from the waiter because he had already unplugged the card charging terminal…. 
As for the room, everything seems to have very poor maintenance, the sheets where stained, the person who did the cleaning didn’t really , it seemed like they just went in to make the bed, not even a little cleaning to the shower or replacing the little shampoo amenitie bottle, … aside from that there is just to people in charge, one in the morning and other in the afternoon and they dont seem to care about service, we asked for a taxi and the nigh shift guy said they were none, didn’t even try to call, we steped outside and got one in a minute.. 
Its a shame because the hotel is very close to a nice beach, has a pool and restaurant and it could be a lot better, but the people taking care of it doesn’t seem to have the interest on service

Not what expected

Our family stayed here in two different rooms. The staff were great, the restaurant amazing and we loved the pool. We had no issues with anything we were very happy with the whole experience, how can you complain when in holbox. The staff at the restaurant we great, we had many laughs and they were very helpful. We ending up eating at the hotel because it was soooo much better then the other places we tried.

Everything you need

It’s a simple place, with nice bungalows and normal rooms, AC units that is a most if you are not used to sleep on the beautiful weather of Holbox.
For what I understood is a family owned placed, the staff is awesome.
The restaurant a little overpriced for the area and offering. 
You could have a much better place if they took note of the little details, maybe a maintenance check list should be put in place, my bathroom area light had the bulb exposed, the fan of my other family members didn’t worked, in general I liked it but they could do much better fixing those small details. 

A quick get away!!

Great little hotel with a small pool and bar/restaurant.

The authentic Mexican breakfast menu was definitely the high point of the day and if you wanted to chill in the pool was a lovely quiet location to do so and a visit to the beach is a 3/4 minute walk.
Just far enough away from the busier parts of the island to be quiet and free of foot traffic and if you are not into a 15/20 minute walk to the centre then 50 Peso's for a beach buggy taxi is not a big hardship.
Only down side for us was the bar/restaurant was shut and finished by 10 p.m. so  had to go to the town every night if you like a drink
