A terrible experience, we arrived late in the evening and found bed bugs and dirty bedding broken shower. After half an hour we asked to leave and refused to give us the money back. Really really not recommended
הגענו מאוחר ומצאנו פשפשים במיטה, סדינים מלוכלכים ומקלחת שבורה. אחרי חצי שעה ביקשנו לעזוב ולא הסכימו לתת לנו את הכסף חזרה. מלון ממש ממש לא מומלץ

Terrible hotel, run away

was family run in 2013.  Excellent location and hospitality. Small amount of rooms for families and backpackers dorms.  Nice place to meet people from Cancun and all over world.

Best beaches are a 20 minute bus ride from hostel.  3 blocks walk from ADO bus station. Best local restraints and shops across street.

Hostel and bed and breakfast

I had a good time at that hostel. It is a bit far from the beach, but it is easy to get there by taking the bus. The hostel was clean and it was at a great price. There was a cool area beside the pool where we could hang out with other people that were staying at the hostel. The pool wasn't so clean, but apart from that, it was great.

great place to stay for cheap!

If you're looking for a quiet, clean and cheap hotel, meson de tulum has to be your choice.
Clean and tidy rooms, ammoks in the patio, helpful staff and its located on the main street, close to the main bus station.

However, The pool in the patio wasnt  that clean, but they fixed it the day later.

I enjoyed my time there!

Good hotel in a great price, 

En route to Merida, I landed in Hostel el Meson de Tulum for four nights. Under new management, I found the young man to be enthusiastic with excellent ideas for the hostel: his ballyhoo, the owners. 

I enjoyed my stay. Swam in the pool, but it does need maintenance. I loved my dorm room. Beds are comfortable with a private bath for the ladies, which was roomy and clean as was the kitchen and lobby, but no A/C. I choose an upper bunk with a ceiling fan directed straight at me and in early May the humidity is not so bad. There are air conditioned private rooms. 

I had reserved one accommodation, but arriving at the hostel, the fee was for a dorm not a semi-private. When I asked about this, the new manager said their advertising needed to be updated. New on the job, I think a little overwhelmed with upgrades the hostel is making. Basically, not enough of him. 

Staff only speaks Spanish and not very helpful when trying to find basic information about the area, like where is the nearest Scotia Bank? The manager is bilingual and knowledgable, but can't work 24/7. 

If this hostel continues its improvements, it has the potential to be a lovely place to stay: walking distance to the ADO bus terminal, local shopping/restaurants, and local bus stops for exploring. 

They need area maps and tourism information for guests. They need a common area. The lobby is too small and has the only access to WiFi accommodating at most four guests crowded onto two small couches. The manager is favorable to suggestions and the day after I suggested tourist information, someone was placing brochures on the table in the lobby. 

I would rebook this hostel because I liked it and understand it is in transition. For that reason I would suggest you take a look-see before ruling it out altogether.
