Woke up two mornings because of a man trying to get in to the room, first time we just yelled and thought that someone was lost and forgot about his room number.. But second time we confronted him and it was one of the younger staff members who is a "night guard" he tried to make a explanation about that he would see if the light was working in the room, Haha sure! And he ran away with his little dick in his pants disappointed. Otherwise great place but that was it for us. 

Never again 

We try a few hotels in Pakse but all are occupied. Strange, no free room? Finally, we are at Lao Chaleun where we take a twin room for 130.000 K per night. We stay one night and that's enough! We have to change the room as there is no hot water in the bathroom and the nozzle doesn't work. The room is big but has ugly decorations and the bathroom is dirty, ugh! I wouldn't like to stay here another time...

We hadn't intended to stay in Pakse and hadn't done any accommodation research.  Our 3G phone internet wasn't working so all we had was Lonely Planet, and we ended up at this place.  The room was large and reasonably furnished if a little gloomy, but closer inspection showed cleanliness was poor.  A toenail on the floor!  Yuk!  The place needed redecoration and the bed was very hard. We had the same experience as other reviewers, seeing a backpacker walk in, ask the price, and leave.  Still the place was quite full.  The bloke on reception spoke English and was pleasant.  He said he'd book us on a minibus to Champassak in the morning and we waited and waited, but it didn't come.  He then made a phone call and confessed he'd forgotten to make the booking.  Al least he apologised and got us a tuk tuk all the way there for the same price as the minibus.

Not very clean

Came here as the hotel we wanted to stay in was full and it was fairly last in the evening.

On the up side the room had air con and a fridge, on the downside it was small, could have done with a lick of paint and was not very clean, especially the bathroom.

We stayed 2 nights and hired motor bikes for 2 days and at no point did we haggle over the price, but when we came to leave the owner of the hotel wouldn't let us extend the room for a hour or even use a shower after we returned the motor bikes.

One of the guys on reception was nice, but would not do anything without permission from his boss. When we explained that offering a little service like the extra hour or shower went a long way the guy agreed but said as a way of explanation that his boss was Vietnamese.

There appeared to be many staff, well I assume that's what there were, but dragging themselves away from the TV to clean a room was obviously too much to expect.
Given that although the hotel was not expensive, it was obviously too much for most of the backpackers (I saw many leaving after asking the price and that was without seeing the room). I don't know who they are aiming there rooms at.

No breakfast although the place next door was pleasant enough. Needs painting, CLEANING and  a recognition of being in the SERVICE industry.
Go somewhere else.
