What a wonderful place to stay even in the low season. All the staff very friendly and helpful.  The room was clean and with everything I could have needed. The meals were excellent and really tasty. The fish was cooked beautifully, the breakfast was larger and very tasty. 

Good place to stay. 

This hotel has the ultimate chill factor. It is quiet, serene, and laid back in a good way. It has a swimming pool, ocean views, stand-alone cottage rooms, and no one bothers you. Staff make a good effort to meet individual needs within reason. Rooms have fans that do the job in the evenings cooling things down. Scuba, snorkelling, and other boat experiences are easily available.

A quiet and calm getaway in a peaceful location

I love all of it as there is the cottage, clean and nice decoratedand all in top condition, the terrace of the cottage with view over the ocean towards Wasini islands, watching dhows and fishermen coming in and out, the pool is large to swim, and the garden watching busy monkeys in the morning up in the trees. Lots of shade in the garden and at pool side.
The restaurant is top and really good, we took breakfast (large) and lunch and dinner from fish to crabs. The service is excellent, and immediate. No one bothers you if not wanted.
Only thing which was missing was a seat/couch at lower terrace at the sea downstairs, but which was really not a big thing. Its almost off season, ok.
we are planing to visit next week again for a two days trip. I enjoy the large parking facilities, far away from public access. will keep all here and make trips to the island. The Wasini island has not everywhere power and water, means we prefer to stay here at Simoni Reef Lodge and make day trips to return in the afternoon/evening hours, save and back in quality room with clean shower and large screened bed.
The cottage was equipped with one queen/king size bed and down was a separate single bed available. Cottage inside is as per pics in lodge desciptions.
I consider this price level as attractive for large room/cottage size and all hotel facilities, away from public disturbances.
Tip: do not accept a guide to show you the way to this lodge. Go straight to end of city then turn left as sign is available, then follow till 100 m after police station right. Entrance is a bit in the back of road.

I was only meant to stay at the reef Shimoni for one night, however I was so taken back by its beauty I had to stay for another night. Situated a mere 20 miles from the Tanzanian border, the Shimoni reef hotel sits on Kenya’s most southern part a two hour drive from Mombasa overlooking Wasini island. As well as it’s picturesque beauty it is also famous for its snorkelling, you can rent a Dow ( traditional boat) and get sailed to a coral in the middle of the ocean. This is where we were lucky enough to encounter some dolphins which we swam with for an hour. The hotel really is stunning with massive rooms, unbelievable staff and delicious food. Couldn’t recommend this more highly.

Slice of Heaven

I don't know where to start. What a lovely spot in Kenya! Very friendly staff and very fresh seafood. The views are spectacular and I recommend getting a boat out early in the mornings. Shoot off early enough to see the coral reefs, dolphins and stand on an island (low-tide) in the middle of the ocean. A beautiful getaway from city life.

Idyllic Paradise

WOW - my experience at Shimoni was fantastic. I stayed for two nights with my Fiance and we were treated to the best service along with a fantastic boat trip for a whole day. Not only were we treated with a great tour of the Reef, but we came along some Dolphins - and jumped into swim with them for half an hour. The whole experience was magical. I can not recommend it more!

A true Boutique Hotel!

I rarely right reviews but on this occasion have decided to. Shimoni Reef Lodge is hands one of the most beautiful and picturesque hotels I have ever stayed in. 
It has stunning views across the reef and the sea is easily accessible. The food is absolutely delicious and the service fantastically good. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in

I went with Kenyan friends for a few dives at the marine park, using the lodge as a base. A bit hard to find but ask the locals or use google map not that difficult. Its basic but cosy and staff are very friendly. Nice chalet style rooms and a pool, good bar and restaurant.  A/C in the room. shower water a bit saline (well you wanted a spa!).  Jonathan the manager is a great and knowledgeable host. Cold beer wines and spirits.

Dive trip accommodation

Quiet and homely hotel. Very relaxed and not congested. Their specialty, the sea food is awesome. You should try it. The staff is excellent and their service is wonderful. Excellent views to the sea and Wasini Island. No beach though.

A visit to Kisite Mpunguti marine park can be arranged, where you will see dolphins, snorkel and visit the low tide island.

Excellent Serene Getaway

A very Nice location with a great view. The place itself was still very  much closed down trying to recover from the Corona. Very limited staff. The restaurant and the food were not up to the expected standard. The place gave the impression of suffering on the edge of closing down
