Hotel Relax Inn Toyama

I figured most of the reviews here are in Japanese and so it must be the locals who are staying there. I backpacked to Toyama for 2 reasons: Tateyama Alpine Trip and Tonami Tulip Fair. This town is situated in between both attractions. Honestly while I was there, I did not see any foreigners/tourists residing in this town. Mostly are Japanese folks and seldom the people there speak English. A little knowledge of Jap language will help. I got the single room because all double room are fully booked (which shows how popular it is to the Jap tourists). Me and partner each took a single room. - Hotel is very near to the JR Toyama station and the Dentetsu Toyama railway station. - Not the nearest hotel to the stations but it's only a mere 5mins walk down the main street. Easy to find. - Lots of eateries around the hotel. Won't go hungry. A cheap Yoshinoya restaurant is within perimeter and so are the convenience shops. - Staff do not speak English well. Must converse in Japanese. - A complimentary additional ladies toiletries are given during check-in to 'Ladies Only'. Lucky me, sorry partner! - No aircon given during spring time and my room was facing the sunset shine, so it's very stuffy and hot. - Window can only semi open (not helping in cooling the room), but rather soundproof. - Single room is super compact but choke full of amenities. 1. Humidifier, Ioniser (no kidding), Flat screen TV, boiling flask + tea bags, ironboard (a relative innovative ironing method used), internet modem cables for laptops... - Bathroom have all the toiletries including an effervescent bath tablet, weighing scale, functional/heater bidet, a separate bathroom from toilet. - No cupboards and hence minimal clothes hanging space. - Very value for money when you compare with all the amenities you are getting. So far, this is the 2nd hotel that made me put double thumbs up. I paid around 5000yen per night for the single room and IMO, it's great value for money.
