Park Inn Takasaki

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for three nights in August 2011 as we traveled around Japan. There's not a lot to see and do in Takasaki for the average tourist so I wouldn't put it on the itinerary unless you have other reasons to visit (we used to live in the city and have friends locally). Being off the beaten track for tourists, I could only book into this hotel through a Japanese language website and the staff did not speak any English. My Japanese is very limited, but I was incredibly impressed by the lengths that the staff went to communicate with me and how patient and gracious they were (they actually apologised to me twice for not speaking English... when I'm the one who presumed to travel around Japan without speaking the language!). Our room was clean, modern and comfortable, with access to all amenities that we could want. The hotel actually has a relaxation area with massage chairs etc but unfortunately we didn't have time to make use of this in our visit (perhaps next time!). While the hotel is quite centrally located in Takasaki it is quite a long walk from the station (especially if you have heavy bags) so I would recommend taking a taxi. Really a very good hotel with exceptional service and very good value for money, I would recommend it
