Mizubasho no Yado Higashi

We are a group of 6 men doing a trek at Oze National Park. Starting from this hotel, do our trek to Chozo Hut for 1st night and then to Motoyu-sanso Lodge for 2nd night and back to Higashi. On arrival from Singapore we took a rental van from Toyota Car Rental Narita Airport and drove the 4 plus hours to Higashi. We had to return the MPV to Toyota Numata City. The Innkeeper took it upon himself to follow one of us driving to return the MPV as he has a sports open top car that seats only 2 persons. The journey to and fro was close to 2 hours. What a kind gesture and without asking for any compensation. The next day he offered and took us from the hotel in Tsuchiide to Oshimizu for the start of our 3 days trek in Oze. The trek was an experience that the 6 of us shall always remember as there was a near mishap. I shall share the trek events in another review. Our Higashi Innkeeper even offered to fetch us from our end point at Hatomachitoge back to his hotel. Fortunately our shuttle van save him the trouble. The next day, all packed he sent us to Oze Tokura to take the Shinjuku Express bus to Shinjuku. Not once did he ask for compensation. This gentlemen is a rare gem of a person. Someone only the Japanese Culture could nurture. After 55 years, Singaporean like us are in awe of such a culture and wonder why we are not being able to produce something close. We chase $ instead of developing a nation to be proud of. We had a wonderful time at Higashi Hotel. Food and services were par excellence. The onsen was great. The wine and sake were also great. The overall service was unforgettable. WE have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to anyone. It was the best value money can buy. Thank you sir. I apologise for not having your name.
