I stayed at pongyi for 3 nights and had the best time there. Nina-san was lovely and very welcoming. Every night they organized a different activity and I had so much fun. They will teach you about japanese costumes and history and recommend things to do in kanazawa.

Staying at Pongy was the highlight of my Japan Journey. Nina-san and Masaki-san were friendly and made sure I feel home at Pongy. They even organised a bento box making workshop, where they invited their local friends which I really enjoyed - not only learning how to make bento was fantastic, but chatting with locals and getting know their life was amazing. The place is well-designed with a lot of tiny details, and it's easy to socialise with other guests. Nina-san answered all my silly questions about local customs and recommended fun things to do in the city. Overall, I recommend Pongy Guesthouse for even longer stays. And if you have the chance to attend any workshops, do it!

A really good experience, I would highly recommend! I stayed in the private room, travelling solo in January 2025, it was very good value. Comfortable bed, cosy room, amazing staff. Great location too - surely the best place to stay in Kanazawa. Thank you!

I had the best time at Pongi guest house 😍 Nina and Masaki are incredibly kind and welcoming, you directly feel at home. Every night an activity is planned, which I was always looking forward to: we did origami, cooking, etc. It was so cosy, and they explained to me many very interesting fact about the Japanese culture and Kanazawa. It also makes it very easy to connect with other travellers and have a great time all together. 
Also the location is perfect, 10 min walking from train station, and the beds and rooms are very confortable. 
I would 100% recommend, it added great memories to my trip to Japan 😊

I really liked my experience here, one night felt to short. I had a great evening learning origami and talking about japanese culture.
The bedding was very comfy, the best sleep I had during my trip.
Nina-san and Masaki-san are very nice people who will welcome you warmly.

Pongyi is not just a hostel, it's really like a home in Kanazawa. I went there first in 2015 and decide to go back in kanazawa in 2023 just to be able to go back there. You will feel like home, and there is a chance the people there propose you to share a meal you make together or some nice activities. You will have a wonderful time and meet wonderful people. 

The rooms are confortable and the house is really cute. Best place to stay in Kanazawa ! 

Nina-san, Masaaki-san, and Pyotaro were wonderful hosts! Guest House Pongyi is comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The hosts have no problem speaking in English and the guesthouse had visitors from around the world and Japan. Its in a great location a 5-10 minute walk from Kanazawa station and 20-25 minute walk to downtown Kanazawa. There are some nice restaurants and bars a couple blocks away as well. Definitely recommend and will stay again if I return to Kanazawa! Only issue might be accessibility, since stairs are required to access all the rooms due to the age of the building.

Excellent hospitality from our hosts Nina and Matsaki, really good position near to the train station and the different places to see in Kanazawa, beautiful walk around the city from the hostel, a really enjoyable day !

One of my favourite places I've stayed at in Japan. Nina and Misaki were incredibly friendly and accommodating at all times. Gave great advice and recommendations for the local area and even helped with restaurant bookings. Wonderful building with a great atmosphere and interesting history. Really enjoyed spending time with the hosts and all their guests and friends that visited during my stay. Great amenities, tea and coffee available, and Nina will order pastries from a local bakery for breakfast. Also very convenient for both Kanazawa station - only 8 mins or so - and about 20 mins into very pleasant city centre along a nice river walk. Especially enjoyed doing calligraphy and folding peace cranes with the hosts. All around, an incredible place to stay.
