It's conveniently located, although a little difficult to find at the beginning. The owner is super friendly and helpful. The building is quite old but pretty clean. The owner has a very quiet and small dog.

I just read the other reviews and yes this is a lovely place to spend the next 3 days .It's a huge room especially after just having stayed in a cubicle for the last 4 nights...has such a homely feel.

4 days here wish it was longer..

If you are looking for a base before climbing Mount Fuji this is the place to stay .The lady who runs this little gem of a place is wonderful, so friendly and helpful welcomes you and makes you fell at home straight away. Stayed two nights Thursday night then went back after climbing Mount Fuji on the Saturday. She let us leave all our bags at the Hostel over night at no charge and let us return early around midday knowing we would need a hot bath and some rest. Easy to find from Smimoyoshida station and within walking distance to Fuji station to get the bus up to the mountain.
Clean rooms and shared bathroom at a great price and plenty of supermarkets and places to eat around the town. Highly recommend this place

Not really a youth hostel, only has private rooms, whether you're alone or 2 or 3 you will get your own room, and cheaper than dormitories at other places. Very welcoming. Traditional house. Also a fridge, microwave, coffee and tea. In a quiet lane. 
It is a 15 to 20 minutes walk from the Fujiyoshida train and bus station. A supermarket 5 minutes away.
The perfect base for climbing Mount Fuji.

More like a ryokan, but extremely good value

Very kind owner and conveniently located to the start of Fuji if you climb it from the bottom (which is what we did). Be mindful that there are TWO Fuji Sengen Shrines in the town, so don’t walk to the wrong one (which is what we did)! The room was spacious and clean. Comfy futons. They had a nice shared bathroom with a small onsen tub. There is a microwave and hot water kettle with free tea and coffee so we just bought pre-made things from the grocery store and heated them up for dinner (there is a table in your room), but otherwise it doesn’t cater for cooking but there are restaurants around. It is down a small alleyway, but there are signs if you miss it or you can find it on Google Maps. Not too far from Fujisan station as well. A nice stay at a good price!
