Hotel Eschenlohe

We stayed 2 nights in a double deluxe room which was modern, nicely decorated, very spacious and had a great balcony. It is a wonderful location and the hotel and the surroundings are stunning, fascinating view. The hotel is located right next to apple and grape fields and right outside there is a nice walking path to either Scena or Merano. Included are afternoon cakes, which you can enjoy outside – there is both a great terrace and a wonderful more cosy area. The dinner service is a combination of a buffet and table served dishes – plenty of food and it was good. The breakfast was a plentiful buffet and you could also order eggs after your liking which was then served at your table. You are assigned to the same table for your entire stay both for breakfast and dinner, which we found strange and not what we would have preferred. We had a table in the back and especially during breakfast when there was hardly anybody having breakfast, it does not make any sense that we could not sit closer to the windows and enjoy the view. From our perspective it would make more sense that they at least rotated the seating arrangements or let you choose your seat for breakfast when you arrive at breakfast. But we did come across a similar set-up at other hotels in Northern Italy so maybe it is common.
