I've found good appartment-hotels to be the perfect balance. Graf Volkmar offers this. We stayed in the Lebenberg "room" for 2 weeks. A spacious appartment with decent living room, functional kitchen, luxurious bathroom and great bedroom. The owners speak and understand English very well, we made good use of the on-premise bikes and I was able to charge my plugin-hybrid on the mains in the garage. All in all we were very happy, had a very good holiday in South Tirol, mainly because of the Graf Volkmar Residence.
