The region of Le Marche is a gem largely unknown to non Italian tourists.  And yet Marche is exceptionally beautiful; its hill towns are as charming as any in Umbria or Tuscany and If not for friends, we would never have discovered its pleasures.  It is now one of our favorite parts of Italy.

We stayed at a wonderful agriturismo that we recommend without qualifications.  Vento di Rose is high on a hill overlooking farms, the valley below, and the medieval town of Monterubbiano above.  In fact from the verandas one can catch a glimpse of the Adriatic sea to the east, the heights of Gran Sasso in Abruzzo to the south, and the Sibillini mountains to the west. The setting is magical.

Breakfast at Vento di Rose is incomparable.  Our hostess, Emanuella, is a consummate baker and chef and she serves a multi course meal that could be breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Her attention to her guests extends to providing them with plastic containers in which you are expected to pack as much as you like of the food that you were too full to consume at breakfast to provide you with lunch as you explore the surrounding area or simply relax on one of the verandas and take in the scenery and serenity.

There are two spacious and very comfortable guest rooms, each decorated by Emanuela with linens and details she has lovingly collected.  The rooms which include private bathrooms are immaculate.  When we arrived there was a bottle of delicious local wine and two glasses in our room.

 The hosts, Emanuela and Imidio, grew up in the area, know the people and places well, and are glad to offer suggestions.   We visited a small nearby family owned vineyard whose delicious wines (see above) enjoy an export market.  Imidio arranged for a private outdoor wine tasting with home cooked food, all for $15/pp.  The next day we visited a small 5th generation pottery workshop in a tiny village, its items for sale here and in Brooklyn!   And of course our hosts know all the restaurants in the area; the food is wonderful and fresh.

We can't wait to return to Marche and Vento di Rose.  We stayed four nights and did not want to leave. This was our friends' fifth visit there and we know why!

Wonderful B&B in wonderful Marchè

Vento di Rose is truly a place of paradise, not only because of its spectacular location, natural beauty of the land and surroundings, the breakfasts to beat any breakfast you've ever had, but because of its hosts, Emanuela and Emidio. Vento di Rose is a rare treasure. It is situated in Le Marche, a beautiful province not as traveled by tourists. The B&B is located surrounded by rolling hills of farmland, 15 minutes to local free beaches on the Adriatic Sea. It is between 5-40 minutes to small hilltop medieval  villages, where you can roam endlessly through stone arches, winding paths, ancient dwellings, and eat local food. You can also visit the Sibillini Mountains or the city of Ascoli Piceno, with its elegant piazza, ancient buildings, spectacular cathedral, charming streets and shops. Or you can just relax in the peaceful atmosphere at Vento di rose with incredible views on all sides, comfortable chairs and tables, a delightful shaded terrace, hammocks, and a glass of wine from a local organic vineyard (left as a gift in your room when you arrive, along with biscotti and fresh fruit). Depending on the time of year, roses abound along with other flowers, olive and fruit trees, and a small ancient tower covered in vines. And the breakfasts!!! Local meats, cheeses, and fruit, fresh bread, homemade jams, honey and butter, frittatas, cakes and cookies, savory pastries (fresh artichoke tart, anyone?!) all made by Emanuela. Nothing is pre-packaged; all is organic. It is served to your table in large quantities and on the side you will find reusable containers and bag to pack a lunch of your leftovers. Emanuela and Emidio are the kindest, most sympatico, and accommodating hosts you will ever meet. They will. bring you out a cup of tea as you sit reading outside. They will direct you to local restaurants  and businesses such as a ceramic studio started hundred of years ago still run by the family or the local winery  where you can do tastings with food while sitting amongst the vines. I highly recommend you vist Vento di Rose, whether you are planning to be in Le Marche or dedicate a week or more of your travels specifically to this magical place. With only two rooms on different sides of the building, the privacy is welcome as a respite. Both rooms are comfortable and unique, decorated with attention to detail- fine cotton linens dried in the sun, handmade bathroom soaps, antique lace wedding crowns and baby bonnets- one room soothing shades of blue, the other the colors of the sun. This was our fifth visit- we have returned with friends and sent family- everyone feels the magic. Don't miss this hidden gem!

An experience of paradise!

Amazing place in an extremely quiet area with stunning views of the surrounding hills. Hosts went the extra mile to treat us to amazing breakfasts. Absolutely recommended!

Paradise in Marche

My husband and I stayed at beautiful Vento di Rose for 3 nights. Our hosts, Emanuela and Emedio were very gracious and thoughtful people with heart!! The accommodations are everything you would hope to enjoy. The breakfast provided is exceptionally delicious! The views from their home are panoramic rolling hills. Absolutely breathtaking!

 The Adriatic Sea is only a 15 minute drive with sandy beautiful beaches, and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Thank you, Emanuela and Emedio for making our stay so memorable! We definitely will be returning!

Wonderful Vento di Rose

We first visited Vento di Rose 9 years ago and because it's not the type of place you can forget we were very happy to visit again. I hope our next visit will come much faster than 9 years! 

Emanuela and Emidio are as wonderful as I remembered and we truly felt like we were leaving family on our last day. We were thrilled that Emanuela shared some of her cooking knowledge with us - and she is without a doubt one of the best cooks I've ever known. Such a privilege to learn from the master! 

The rooms are lovely, the setting is incredible and the hosts are the most pleasant people you'll ever meet. Thank you, again, for a wonderful stay and I do hope we'll be back again soon. I tell everyone that Vento di Rose is the best B&B I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at quite a few.

Another note: The Marche region is a true hidden gem and I'm so very happy we discovered it.

Another Perfect Stay

The B&B is perfectly located on the hillside from where you can overlook the beautiful landscape of the Marches - while sitting in the whirlpool, if you like... But the most important and best thing are the hosts, Emanuela and Emidio, who not only prepare a "breakfast" that is actually more of a lunch, but above all are always extremely kind and helpful with tips for great restaurants and things to do and see. Herzlichen Dank und wir kommen definitiv wieder...:)

One of the best holiday experiences we ever made!

Emanuela and Emidio are the nicest people in the world.  This is truly a special place, an oasis of tranquillity and beauty.  We had stayed here in 2006 and had the opportunity to visit again when we returned to the area to attend a family wedding in nearby Abruzzo.  The Vento is set on a beautiful hillside, approached through vineyards and fields of sunflowers, and is lovingly tended.  You are surrounded by flowers, fragrant herbs, and terraces with sweeping views.  The breakfast is more like a banquet, a top-quality culinary tour of the Marche, featuring typical seasonal dishes of the region.  Every day Emanuela brings you supplies so that you can pack up the leftovers for a picnic lunch.  (When we left, we had enough to last us our remaining day in Italy and our first few days home in the States.)  We were tired on arrival and Emidio drove us to a seaside restaurant about 15 minutes away, and picked us up after dinner.  In the nearby town of Rubianello we also enjoyed the Zia Titta, awarded two Gambero Rosso snails.  

The Vento was the perfect tranquil retreat for us before and after the fast-paced family events.  Emanuela even lent me her mother’s antique lace shawl for the wedding.  She and Emidio work so hard to keep the Vento beautiful and the guests cared for.  Meeting them is exactly why you come to Italy.     

The Marche remains a relatively undiscovered region but there is a lot to explore.  It reminds us of the Italy of 30 years ago.  The Vento is a great base to experience it.  It remains one of our most cherished memories.

A special place

Vento di rose is the perfect getaway. its run by the most passionate couple.They are warm, generous, kind and extremely helpful. The place is heVnly in a remote countryside surrounded by picturesque nature and mountains. Needs a car no doubt but emidio is always willing to take people and he finds the time. The food is delicious and organis. I recommend this awsome place and people.

Best Stay Ever

On the advice of our travel consultant Andi Brown (Once in a :Lifetime travel), we planned a 2 night stay in Le Marche  September 2016 at Vento di Rosa.  As Andi predicted, we felt like we were leaving family at the end of our visit.   Emanuela and Emidio are fantastic hosts and made this a memorable visit.  This was our first visit to the Le Marche region; how did we never hear about this fantastic area before?  The Inn has 3 nicely appointed and comfortable guest rooms and the most incredible views.  Above the Inn are the towns of Monterubbiano and Moresco, comparable to many hill towns in Tuscany.  Emanuela prepared a fantastic breakfast which was served on the terrace; anything not eaten was carefully packed by Emidio for us to take along for lunch.  Two prefect meals a  day!  Emidio also suggested a  day trip to Grottammare Alta, Offida, Ripatransome and Montefiore dell'Aso.  A stop in Ascoliu Piceno was memorable.  Emanuela and Emidio are the best hosts and we look forward to another visit. Cannot say enough about Vento di Rose and the Le Marche region.
