Fantastic
35 reviewsI stayed at Liberty Inn for two weeks in June and was very happy with my choice. It was very centrally located, convenient to the town centre, the Borgo Antico, beach and port. The room was quiet, very comfortable and had access to a terrace. This is shared with another room but the rooms use different sections of the terrace so you wouldn't see anyone even if you were both out on the terrace at the same time. In two weeks the only person I saw on the terrace was Marco, the owner. There is a large garden so if you have a car you can park off the street. Marco was a great host, very helpful and kind. He picked me from the port on my arrival and dropped me back there on my departure. (The Giuntabus stop for buses to Catania airport is at the port which is a 10-minute walk without luggage on flat ground to the B&B.) Breakfast was with a voucher at the bar (Nadir) two minutes up the road. It had a nice outdoor area and good pastries, granita and coffee. The only slight problem for me was that since I was there for so long Marco often forgot to give me the vouchers so I had to keep reminding him. He didn't seem to mind but I felt like I was nagging him. I would have preferred to receive them all in one hit or if not, to be given them or have them left in the room without having to chase them up. Probably for shorter stays there wouldn't be a problem. Wifi was unreliable for the first week of my stay but after Marco bought a receiver for upstairs it worked well. Unfortunately access was turned off the morning of our departure even though we weren't checking out for another three hours. I found out 10 days into my stay that I could have borrowed a beach towel. If I had known I would have been more likely to go to the beach. It would be helpful if this sort of information was provided on arrival, either verbally or in written form. But these small negatives aside, it is a great place, Marco and his wife are lovely and I'd definitely stay there again.
