Stayed here for day after looking for a last minute hotel. Reception was always empty. Staff wasn't too friendly. The issue was mostly value for money which I didn't feel I received. However, Dublin is quite expensive, so it's almost expected

Wouldn't recommend

WE LOVED PADDY'S HOUSE!!!  However, it appears everyone else does as well because this is our third time back to Dublin and we haven't been able to book it since the first trip.  Paddy made sure we knew how to find everything the moment we checked in.  There's a great pub about 4 blocks up and across the street.  We were very comfortable here!

Convenient, quiet, clean, wonderful staff

If you are looking for a cute b&b to spend a romantic weekend in Dublin, this is not the right place.
The reception was always empty, we weren’t provided with any information nor with shower gel or shampoo! 
Breakfast needs to be prepared by yourself (if you are lucky enough to find something in the kitchen, there was only bad coffee and some bread)
If you only need a place to sleep this is 20min away from the city centre and it is definitely quiet, but otherwise think it twice before booking!

Disappointed :(

Stayed here for 1 night.. @ first thought what the hell... after meeting and talking to whom i presume was paddy realised this was a very laid back premises. We paid €75. We had a large room with bathroom. Yes there was no tv but so what, the Wi-Fi was great so u could watch something on a laptop or tablet. I thought the price was a bit steep but realised... I paid €119 for a crap hotel ( check previous posts) with no breakfast. Yes you help yourself but so what, if you don't want to experience something a little off the wall( said with respect), then don't stay here. Safer than a few hotels I've stayed in. Its all an experience no matter where u stay. Yes i would stay here again. 
 

Quirky but good.

I booked this because all my regular hotels full up for some reason. 

The house was missing any signage which was a bad omen to start.  Reminded me of my first grubby bedsit after leaving home...except not as nice.

I got given a single room on the top floor that was dated and grubby.  The bed was concave as if a 30 stone man/woman had been sleeping on it for 20 years. Hence waking up every night on the hour with a bad back.  Tried booking something else on first night but nothing available so had to tough it out.

Shower was in the room and could barely fit in it.  No plug in the sink so had to shave at work.

I knew it was a shared toilet but didn't realise I'd have to travel down 2 flights of stairs for it. I assume all 12 rooms shared the 1 toilet?

Breakfast was help yourself in the kitchen so oped to walk into City and get a Starbucks.

Wifi worked on the ground floor but not on the 2nd floor where I was.

Took to staying out late as possible to minimise time in the hotel.  Would have slept under a desk at work if I could.

A hostel not a house/hotel. Not for business travellers. Seems a backpacker hostel.

Pleasantly Surprised

To be honest I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews of Paddy’s House, all I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised. Caught the # 11 from O’Connell St (2.70 have the right change)  the  bus driver  knew exactly where it was even gave me a running commentary on the bars and restaurants on the way . You get dropped off right outside the front door  I arrived about 4 in the afternoon and welcomed by one of the staff who showed me round and gave me the key to my room  (a single) It was clinically clean, bright and roomy with a thick new carpet. The room had a shower and wash basin ample hot water (toilet one floor down) which was always kept spotless. Furnished with everything  you would need ,no Tv  but I didn’t go to Dublin to watch TV  there’s a strong  wifi  signal in the room and a couple of plug  points to charge your phone or laptop.
The kitchen has everything you could possibly need even a working   Aga cooker which  is kept on 24/7 I only used it to boil a couple of eggs in the morning  I wasn’t there  to bake a cake  .Some of the guest’s utilised the kitchen to its full potential and cooked main meals .Just 10 minute walk in either direction you have a selection of take a way’s,  pub’s and  fine restaurants there is even a Lidel  down the road,  perfect location  35 minute walk will get you to the centre or take the bus or tram (last tram back is 12.30)  Or you could hop on a 43a to Dún Laoghaire about 25 mins  beautiful seaside resort with a fantastic wetherspoons (the Fourty Foot)  with a spledid view overlooking the bay  where you can get a meal and a pint for under 10 euro 
I stayed  5 nights and slept like a log  the  bed was comfy and the room was quiet  . I would certainly stay there again. Paddy’s house is in a peaceful location  in a upmarket area .You will find the staff very helpful and friendly one thing they won’t do is make  your bed or breakfast you do that yourself if you’re looking to be pampered  I suggest you  pay the price and go to a hotel.
