The rooms are incredibly smug for two people - it’s in the name. We knew what we signed up for though so it was fine, but there is barely enough space for two people to stand at the same time.

Great location in quay street but very noisy at night, room 10 was towards the back and it was still very very loud. They supply earplugs though!

Shower was great and shampoo etc was good quality too. Hairdryer was supplied. Smart TV had no internet access so only satellite TV was available. WiFi signal was decent too.

Bed was comfy but pillows could have been better. The kettle was dirty inside so we couldn’t use it. No breakfast options but go to magpie bakery nearby for great coffee and pastries! Coffeewerk and press is next door abc has really great coffee, better than the instant maxwell house provided by the hotel. 

Car parking is in the Spanish arch car park at €10 a day, good price and seconds walk from the hotel. Crazy corn and the dough bros are great spots for dinner and only a few minutes walk away!

I would absolutely stay here again in my next trip to Galway!

A truly snug room…

Staff are friendly and helpful.  Room was modern and clean, just a little too "snug" for me. (single room) However, I can't complain.  It was cosy, quiet, I could regulate my heating/cooling and  lighting in bathroom was great.  It's also in a great location---it's walking distance to everything.

Cosy and Quiet and great location!

I just stayed in Galway for the first time for five days and four nights and personally had a pretty perfect experience. When they say that it’s in the heart of the Latin Quarter, they’re not kidding. It’s right on Quay Street and surrounded by an enormous amount of loud pubs and foot traffic. Maybe that’s not for everyone, particularly the noise level, but for a young social animal like myself it hit the spot.

My room was small, there’s not even a table, chair or any furniture beyond the bed (nice bed btw) and a couple of shelves, but since it was just me and I really only needed a crash pad, it was sufficient. The room was also very clean, everything seemed fairly new, and it had a good, powerful shower.

The gentleman working the desk were very courteous and welcoming. They even gave me some great tips on places to check out during my stay. Thank you sirs.

It’s possible that this place isn’t for everyone, and that’s for you to decide what you’re looking for. If you want a clean place that’s in a happening location that won’t bankrupt you, but don’t mind less space or plan to hang around the room too much, Snug Townhouse is for you. If you prefer peace and quiet, more amenities than just a place to sleep, and a larger room, maybe you’d prefer a different spot.

Great experience

We stayed here last week and we loved it! 

We parked at Hynes parking (as recommend on their website) and they offered a 50% discount. 

The location really can’t get better. You are in the heart of the Quays (pronounced keys).  You walk outside and bang, everything you need. We booked the superior room and it overlooked the street which is quite noisy. They provide earplugs  and honestly we had no issues. 

The shower had great pressure and never ran out of hot water. 

The room was clean and quite spacious for 2 adults. Had storage at the top, bottom and underneath the bed. The bed was very comfortable and nice pillows. 

I wish it had more hooks or shelves or something to hang your stuff on. The mirrors are super cool and don’t fog after a shower. 

There are A LOT of stairs. This place is not for anyone who struggles with navigation or stairs. It’s an old building and lots of back split floors. We were at the very top and there are about 4-5 flights and turns to get there. 

Reception was very friendly and offered us directions and suggestions. 

Will definitely stay here again!

Great hotel

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! If you are solo, it may be fine, however the room we had was microscopic. It was literally the size of the Queen bed (definitely not a king as advertised). In all fairness I had booked a superior room, but when we realized it faced the noisy Quay street, they offered us a regular snug room in back. There was NO window in the room either, which made me nervous. My husband and I could not stand in the room or bathroom at the same time. And we are not big people. For over $250 a night, it was a total rip off.

Microscopic not snug

Spent two nights in Galway as a solo traveler and could not recommend this place more!  I would 100% stay again.  The rooms were "snug" but perfect, super comfortable and very clean.  The front desk went above and beyond to be helpful with any type of question from tours to restaurants to travel options.  I have seen many reviews complain about noise, but I did not experience a problem with that at all - I slept very well both nights.  Finally the location can not be beat.  It is right in the heart of Galway City.  Two thumbs up for sure!

Fantastic experience and hope to return soon!

I loved this place.  First of all, all the people I spoke to at the reception desk were all nice and helpful.  As a solo woman traveler, they even helped to carry my bags upstairs since there is no elevator.  The thing I appreciated the most about them is their honesty.  The rooms are small and there is loud music, but that is known before you even book the room.  I requested a room in the back and didn't hear anything.  The room width is the length of the bed.  After the first night, I did ask if I could change rooms and be on a lower floor due to knee issues and they were able to accommodate me.  They helped me move my luggage.  

The second night I didn't sleep well because the guest in the room next to me had the TV on all night.  When I mentioned that to the front desk the next morning, she told me to let them know because that is something they would address with the guest.  

The rooms are clean.  The shower has great water pressure.  In room air conditioning is a must for me. I felt safe in the hotel.

Great Stay

Basically there is two reviews in one ,If you know what I mean! Lets start with the good,Spotless hotel,Fantastic location. ,friendly staff.
The bad is ,the smallest room I have ever seen ,any where in the world.Our room faced out on to the street and is 10 paces from the Quays music bar,a fantastic bar but not if your room is above it and you are trying to sleep by 11.30  pm .When the noise eventually stopped about 2am , there was some respite for about 3 hours from the absolute din of noise ,then the bin trucks ,the keg deliveries and finally the contractor drills commenced all by 7.10 am.The room price is a scandal for what it is and not to be warned our room is going to be as noisy  all night as New York City during rush hour ,is not in any way acceptable .We should of been warned,plain and simple.  The horrendous  noise is not the hotels fault for sure but they do have an absolute duty of care to warn residents .
We will never visit here again on the basis that we were sold a totally inferior product.

Too Noisy

Great Stay!  Rooms spotlessly clean and small but comfortable.  QUIET, even though our window was right over Quay Street, a crowded pedestrian walkway, we slept not hearing anything.  Centrally located!  And the guys at the front desk really know how to do customer service!  We stayed in one of the rooms with three beds.   A great place to stay!

BEst in the heart of Galway

This hotel is definitely snug. The rooms are tiny with just a small dormer window with a view to a concrete wall. The bed was against the wall so one of you has to be agile. 
The staff were very friendly. Location is spot on. 
Very expensive for such a tiny room.
