Island Hostel - Adults only

I’ve stayed at Island Hostel in Budapest twice now, and both times it’s been exactly what I needed—a peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. Located on Margaret Island, it feels like a green bubble away from the urban chaos, yet still incredibly central. You’re surrounded by trees, parks, and the Danube, which gives it a chilled, almost retreat-like vibe that’s rare in a capital city. The rooms are clean and simple, with everything you need. Nothing fancy, but the price reflects that. The real highlight is the terrace overlooking the river—sunsets here are unforgettable, especially with a beer or coffee in hand. The hostel attracts a relaxed crowd: mostly solo travelers or small groups looking to explore during the day and unwind in the evening. The staff are extremely helpful and kind, and there’s a nice communal feel without being overly social if you're not in the mood. It’s definitely not a party hostel, and that’s part of why I came back—it’s a great place to recharge. If you’re looking for a calm, affordable spot in Budapest that still keeps you close to everything, Island Hostel is a hidden gem worth returning to.
