OK, so this has had a couple of bad reviews, and part of what I am about to write may read that way too. Thing is, I really don't intend it to. There are good things about this place, but you do need to know what you're getting.

So, we got a room really really cheap. Despite what the last (English, like me) reviewer claims, it's really not down a 'series of side streets'. It's one turn - about four yards - off the main strip of bars and shops which takes you within a couple of minutes to the port and the sea.

Anyway, some negatives first. The first room we were put in was extremely small and very basic, with two single beds, a fridge and a shared bathroom. I mention this because this was not what we were led to expect.

However. To revisit the last review, though there were only two bed sheets, it was very warm weather, so that even with the air-con (which as the previous reviewer says, was working) on, there was really no need for more than a sheet.

We also got proper towels, unlike the last reviewer.

So, we were a little unhappy with the room, and went to see the owner, who in fairness to him, moved us to a bigger room for the next night.

Connected to this, I would say that in fact the staff were helpful, and the room was cleaned every day.

I guess what I am saying is this: Skiathos is quite pricey (though it's good fun and has some great things outside as well as within Skiathos town itself), and if you want to come at relatively low cost, and maybe spend the money on cocktails and dinners, and just use it as somewhere to lay your head, then you could do worse than this place. It's exceptionally well-located, it's cheap, and the staff are polite and helpful.

If, however, what you want is a luxury stay where you stay long periods in your hotel room, perhaps in a jacuzzi or sipping champagne by a pool (quite unnecessary in Skiathos, but certainly fun, nonetheless) then this is not the place for that.

In effect, you get what you pay for. Don't expect too much from this place, but it does what it's supposed to, and the staff are good.

Genuinely, if it's luxury you're after, then go elsewhere. But it's fine for a base, and the price, location and staff make it worthwhile if that's what you're after.

Basic, but...

The rooms bear no resemblance to the photos. What you see online is nothing like the reality. Absolute bare minimum of facilities (no drinking cups, no soap, no toilet paper, no toilet seat). Skiathos is a great place to visit. This accommodation is poor.

Danaos Pension

If you are fortunate to visit Skiathos try to avoid staying at one of the many “Danaos Pension” rooms. There are a lot better around for the money. In terms of a digestive system these facilities are the sphincter. One arrival we were eventually met by the owner and taken on foot via a labyrinth of unlit side streets away from the town centre to a non descriptive building. The room was at least clean with working air-con. However, there were only 2 hand towels, 2 single sheets for the double bed, no drinking glasses, and most oddly no toilet seat. Never saw the owner again during the 4 nights we stayed. Skiathos night life is vibrant if not a little expensive. Great beaches if you are prepared to travel a bit. The local bus service is excellent and will get you to most places you’re likely to visit

Filthy, pricey, noisy. A/C didn't work. Couldn't sleep 1 hour.

shocking place, filthy and falling apart! The door casing was coming away from the wall and all the bathroom tiles were uneven, patched together and sharp. I cut my toe badly. The bed had a sheet, one pillow but no throw or blanket. There were no towels provided and no toilet paper, or liner in the bathroom bin. Although the air conditioning worked, it sounded like a plane landing at the side of the bed.... as did the noise from the fridge which was an antique.
The lock to the front door of the building was broken and I was locked out one evening in the dark!!
