Athanasia Studios

After never wanting to go to Halkidiki, my husband persuaded me to go,so with some trepidation i went. We stayed for 2 weeks at the Athanasios in pollichrono, what can i say , we had a fabulous time,the family live all year round on the premises and are really friendly, the beach is bang opposite the hotel and is pretty clean to say how busy it gets. The sunbed man did us a deal for the 2 weeks as the beds were quite expensive 8euros a day we paid 65euros for the 2 weeks. The restaurants are great and reasonably priced, i feel this is due to a lot of greeks holidaying here and they wont pay over the top prices, the supermarkets are the same you can see the locals doing their weekly shopping. There are lots of wonderful places to eat, the kleanthis, nepheli,the large restaurant in the square,the little gyros places where for a few euros you can get a filling meal with beer for 5euros for 2. The cockney cafe does the best english brekkie ever, dont get the belly buster its TOO much if you do share it believe me its huge. We hired a car for 4 days and went to Vergina to visit Alexander the greats fathers tomb, we then drove to Meteora and stayed overnight in Kalambaka, when we got up the next morning we drove to Delphi and then back up the coastal highway passing Mount Olympus on the way the drive back took 6 hours but it was worth the journey. We met a lovely greek lady and her mother who were staying at the Athanasios and I keep in touch with her. Pollichrono is a busy resort but not as busy as Hanioti and Pefkahori, it has vendors on the sea front at night selling everything from designer handbags to candyfloss. After never wanting to go i cant wait to go back and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.
