Great location, just a block from the beach, spacious apartment with well-equipped kitchenette, full size fridge and washing machine. Post office, pharmacy and restaurants just a few steps away. I would have given this place 5 stars, except for the treatment I got when I reported a number of electrical issues which happened during our stay. To put it mildly, they told us that it was our fault that the items broke and that we are required to pay for replacements. Firstly, on the first night, the LG TV blew the fuse in the whole apartment when we turned it on using the remote. A surly old man (the landlord?) flicked the fuse to get the power back to our apartment and insisted on knowing how we blew up the TV. What the?? All we did was turn it on using the remote! We showed him what we did, OK, he said, I will look at it in the morning, and walked off, no apologies. Fair enough. The next morning, I filled the electric kettle halfway to boil water, flicked the switch, nothing happened, the kettle was dead. We checked the other appliances, everything else was working OK. Oh well, maybe its the kettle, we thought, let’s just boil water the old way, on the stove. Next, the coffee maker. This was a different issue, the filter didn’t work and no coffee came through the pot in the bottom (such that the filter on top was still filled with water and ground coffee!). Later in the morning, I told the landlady what happened and she was a bit angstsy about it and went off her trolley, told me she didn’t believe it, how could we break 3 things all at once. What? Us break the appliances? Really, how could you accuse your guests like that? First, the electric kettle she says cuts off when there is water in the element surface – fair enough, I understand that but there was no water on the surface when I put the jug back on the element. It is a very simple kettle afterall. No, no, she says irritably, it is your fault, you did not check, the surface must have been wet. As she was telling me about this agitatedly she knocked the coffee maker over and spilled the coffee water all over the floor! What a catastrophe! Then she tells me that once again, it was our fault as we did not use the appliance properly! Really? I apologized and I proceeded to clean the mess on the floor myself, no kind word nor assistance from her, as if it was my job to do so. She was totally unhelpful and made me feel foolish for not knowing how to make coffee. I told her it was our companion who did it and please could she show me how to do it so we will do it properly next time. Thankfully she did, but still no warmth nor niceties, just snappy. Later that day, she harangued my husband as we were going to dinner and said that we would have to pay for all the equipment we have broken. She waved her finger at me and kept saying it was my fault, it was quite hurtful.

In all our travels in the world, this is the first time we have ever been treated this way. Nowhere in the world has a property owner treated us so disrespectfully and insisted that we pay for broken appliances that we were not responsible for. In the world of competitive hospitality, they should have been apologizing profusely to us for inconveniencing us with no working TV and electric kettle for several nights! I’ve never heard of anyone blowing up a TV just by turning it on, unless the TV was already faulty to start with. Electric kettles are simple appliances and shouldn't break as easily as she accused us of.The owners immediately assumed it was our fault and were absolutely horrible to reason with. As a frequent traveller, I've never been so insulted by a property owner in my life.

It’s a pity because we like this place. It is well-situated and adequately furnished. We could have easily stayed here longer. Just not sure about the hospitality that we experienced. It has put a bit of a downer to our visit. I guess they are a bit tired of dealing with tourists towards the end of the season, and forget about or do not care about paying customers and the power of travel reviews. 

My recommendation to future visitors: there are lots of other alternative accommodation venues in the area, you might get better treatment elsewhere, it is a very tourist-oriented town. Don’t let the ratings here lull you into a false sense of security, otherwise grit your teeth and grow some thick skin when dealing with the owners, they smile at you one day and scream at you the next, and try not to let it ruin your stay in Plakia. Good but needs to work on customer service

Lovely  spotlessly clean apartment, tastefully furnished in pastel shades.  We were given a warm welcome from the owner. 
Fully equiped kitchenette within a spacious open plan living area. A washing machine was also provided.  We stayed in a one bedroom apartment, there are two bedroomed apartments and studios available. 
The apartment was just a couple of minutes walk from the sea front and near to a couple of supermarkets and restaurants.
The Medusa has it's own upmarket restaurant and we ate excellent meals there a couple of times during our week in Plakias.
If we return to Plakias we would stay at the Medusa again, it's one of the best  holiday apartments we have stayed in..
