What a super place I found thanks to a friend’s recommendation - we had a lovely stay and Alex and Vicky were so welcoming.  We wished we’d spent the second part of our holiday there!  I will be back for sure - with or without children - thank you for making the first of many firsts for me so easy whilst navigating divorce - a fab stay!

Fabulous hotel

An absolute gem - we truly loved staying here and felt instantly relaxed when we arrived. Alex and Vicki are incredibly hospitable, putting everyone, including our 3 kids at ease. Great rooms, enormous pool, stunning views and delicious food. Just perfect.

Just  amazing, look forward to coming back

Where does one start? Do not hesitate to book! Friendliest, most thoughtful hosts in Vicky and Alex- Sandra fab too. We utterly loved our stay; rooms stunning, immaculate and so tasteful; large pool; amazing views; peaceful setting; we don’t usually go back  to places but I think we will have to! 
The walk to Avithos beach is beautiful; steep walk back but enjoyed the exercise. The local village square is a pleasant 20 minute walk away with a fantastic taverna (George’s) as your reward. Lovely cafe on the square too that serves excellent cocktails. Good mini market’s too.

All in all a fantastic place to stay with all bases covered. Thoroughly recommend.

Perfection

Fantastic place to stay. Lovely setting. Really great pool. Plenty of outdoor sun beds for all. Stunning views. Exceptionally friendly hosts and staff. Meticulously clean. Attention to detail throughout. Airport beaches and restaurants all nearby.

Couldn’t be better.

We stayed for a week at my little place for a family reunion and special birthday. Our party of 14 ranged from 12-85 year old and everyone was looked after so well and had the most special time. 
The accommodation is simple but perfect, everything has been thought of. It’s cleaned daily and looks spotless. The food at the bar was lovely. Lots of additional extras like yoga mats, beach umbrellas, bikes etc are available.
All the staff are warm professional and friendly, and Vicky Alex and Sandra went above and beyond for the 80th birthday celebration. We couldn’t fault this gem and will be back!

Beautiful setting, amazing staff.

I stayed at My Little Place on the Hill for five perfect days. Solo traveler. 

PROS

- Quick, effortless communication before my trip. The owners (Alex and Vicky) were flexible and accommodating: wire transfer, credit card switch, date change, room request
- Website directions for driving from the airport are straightforward: it's a twenty-minute drive from the airport. (I recommend Greekstones car rental)
- Easy parking
- No check-in BS, which I appreciated after three flights. I was simply offered a welcome drink and given a gift bag, and escorted to my room, where my luggage awaited me. A day or so later, I emailed Alex with my address and paid when I left
- Impeccable design/decor (black and white graphic patterns) throughout the property. Bright fuchsia flowers all over the place
- Restaurants, mini-markets, beaches, and walking paths in proximity (bonus: cemeteries and churches!)
- Cats, cats, and more cats (but they won't engage you unless you engage them)
- Balconies with stunning views
- Lots of places to hang out: the hammock, the daybed at the end of the lawn, the chaises longue around the pool, the outdoor restaurant/bar
- Alex, Vicky, and Sandra are gracious, hospitality naturals. They provided advice, books, etc. They know their guests by name. They called and texted me immediately when I left an item behind. Also, they're just fun to talk to
- Large accommodations, which include a kitchen, foyer, and day room
- Extremely clean rooms, and the housekeeping staff is on top of every detail
- Windows that open/cross-ventilation. My room (if I shut the door) was dark at night
- Soothing sounds of birds, cicadas, and the breeze (plus the occasional cat fight screech, which were comical)
- Library with books you'd actually want to read
- Fredo and yogurt breakfasts (OK, more of a suggestion than an evaluation)
- Gift shop, large pool, movie night: I didn't avail myself of them, but still nice options to have
- Korres bath products

CONS
- The  bed could use a soft topper, but I feel that way about every bed in Europe
- Water splatters onto the floor when you shower. Oh well

I quasi-disagree with the posters who say that you need a rental car to stay here. It all depends upon your travel style. If you like to walk, and you're staying for only four days or less, you can get by without a car. It's a quick taxi ride from the airport, and there's plenty to be experienced by foot.

Loved It

What a break! This truly is a magical place. We spent a ten day holiday at Little place on the hill. We were a group of children/parents/grandparent. From the moment we arrived we felt our shoulders drop. A welcome drink and chat with Alex (host) our bags magically appeared in our rooms. The rooms are simply decorated in a style very much to my taste. Everything was spotless. The kitchen is as described, we happily prepared several meals and enjoyed the beautiful sunset on our balcony. Alex and Vicky (and all of the team) couldn't do enough to help us have a perfect holiday. We particularly loved the local village (within walking distance). A lovely taverna, shop and a couple of cafe/bars. The whole family loved it..we will be back! 

Perfect Greek getaway

I’m very reluctant to rave about this superb place because it’s clearly already full every year of returning faithfuls who know they’ve found a nugget of pure gold. Still, Vicky and Alex do so much to make your stay perfect and relaxing that they deserve the praise and recognition.

MLPOTH is nestled above a valley in southern Kefalonia within walking distance of world class beaches and pretty rural villages. It’s brilliantly handy for Argostoli and the airport and easy to get to other landmark spots. The view from the louche, lazy area around the huge pool is breathtaking and the main feature of staying here but the thing that binds it all together is the friendly and considerate hosting by the owners Vicky and Alex who offer a welcome drink along with the feeling that their property is yours to do with it what you will for as long as you’re there. 

Thank you for such a lovely stay. We’re definitely going to join the list of returning faithfuls

Exquisite hideaway in a stunning part of the island

This was the second time we stayed in my little place on the hill and can only confirm what everyone else is writing.  Vicky, Alex, Sandra and the rest of the team are the perfect hosts and will ensure a relaxed holiday at an absolute fabulous place.

Perfect place, perfect hosts

It's easy to understand why guests are so evangelical about My Little Place on the Hill and why they get so many repeat visitors. The situation of the hotel is perched on a hill in a quiet village away from all the coastal exuberance. The decor and layout are thoughtfully and stylishly crafted, with a great eye for detail.

From the moment you get there, you are made to feel so welcome by the hosts Alex and Vicky. This lovely couple make you feel at home straightaway and are so helpful with tips for restaurants and excursions around the island. 

The large pool area is set in a lovely garden and there are plenty of sunbeds and secluded seating for all the guests. There is also a large family of rescue cats that are making the most of the comfort of this little hotel and happy to make new friends.

The room we stayed in (5) was fantastic in terms of privacy and the amazing views of the mountains from the large balcony. The small kitchenette is more than adequate for breakfast and small snacks. There is large fridge freezer to fill up with Mythos and Retsina!

There are two good value restaurants which are accessible by foot. Our favourite was called Cavo Liakas, or more affectionately known as 'George's' in nearby Spartia village. It's a friendly, small family-run restaurant which does a mean Kefalonian pie and great house white. There are also two mini-markets close by for all your needs.

The 40 minute walk to the sandy Avithos beach is recommended as it takes you through lovely countryside where all you can hear are goats' bells and birdsong. Make sure you take plenty of water with you, particularly for the return leg which is uphill.

The nearest taverna to the beach is not to be missed and does some very tasty grilled fish, all served with a big smile.

The hotel was the perfect choice and offered us much needed respite from a difficult and challenging year. It was worth all the tests and PLFs!
