We spent 13 nights here and had a great time. The apartment is basic but clean and great value for money. The room is cleaned and beds changed regularly and the pool area is beautiful. The owner Errikous is a great chap and goes out of his way to help with anything you need. Vari is busy with loud music from the restaurants in peak season but a few minutes walk around the bay brings you to Acladi with a much quieter beach and a fantastic little taverna. Syros is a great find - look forward to going back

Lovely place

we stayed 12 nights, the general impression is very nice, the owner is a very nice guy, rooms cleans, BUT the music is too loud, the cocktails not very good, and the armchairs too stiff, a few ajustements would make the place charming, 5 mn walk from the beach is good but too loud with music too. the little superette right there is perfect for drinks and fruits, and bread for morning

We spent 13 nights. Location is excellent, just 1min walk away from Vari beach. Room was large, but rather in a bad condition (old beds, tubs). Although having the "hotel" in its title, room service is poor: daily cleaning but bed&bath stuff changed only three times (in a total of 13 nights). The big pool was a plus. But it was the same pool that turned out to be the biggest problem with our residence. In fact, music was on even during the sleeping ours: starting from late morning till even midnight (even longer during Fri, Sat, Sun). Also, every Fri and Sat, there was live music by the pool from 22:00 up to 01:00. Even worse, it seems that the hotel sometimes organizes pool parties and events with DJs etc, starting from late morning till late night (it happened once during our stay).
The most distant room was around 50m from the pool. Too much noise and really annoying for family holidays. Another issue is the prices at the pool bar. 8euros for a take-away mojito even during non-party hours.

The owner (it seems that the hotel is a family business) is a very cool and kind guy, having everything under his own control. We mentioned some of the problems at the check out.

I spent 9 days in Amfitrion hotel and I will never do the same mistake again. 
Although the hotel was very conveniently located 1m walk from the Vari beach, in a nice little garden, my room was filthy. Everywhere you looked at you could see spider nets, including the dish drainer. After repetitive requests, on day 4 of my stay there and after taking the drainer myself to the – otherwise very polite – owner I had it cleaned.  Staying there with my baby I needed a kitchenette, which though was also filthy while they provided no towels or dish washing liquid or sponge.  
All the cleaning lady would do every day was to empty the garbage bins and make the bed. The bathroom was cleaned only once, on day two after my complaints for the state of the room and that was it.  The towels were replaced only once, after I dropped them in the shower, and the bed sheets were changed on day 2 (again after my complaints) and day 7 after asking to be changed. 
Also, when we arrived there was no hot water. I mentioned this to someone who said he would fix it and I should try in about 10 minutes. 10 minutes later I still had no hot water, until I tried the cold one. Aha!!! They had connected it the other way around. 
Other than the above, the balcony door would not close, the balcony was dirty, the bed sheets were old and the faucets were tired. 
In other words, if your standards are anything above average, don’t even think of staying there.
