This is the perfect spot for those who want to stay in town (as opposed to right on the beach, like we normally do). It’s peaceful and private because it is right on the edge of town, but still close enough to walk down into town (for sunset drinks). Our party rented three rooms.
LOCATION. Convenient and quiet, even though right in town. Very easy to find (you can see the sign/hotel from the ferry boat on the way in).
STAFF. Friendly and helpful. Not so knowledgeable about local amenities/events, but they did inquire and let us know later.
BREAKFAST. A typical lovely spread of hot and cold dishes. Note that the familiar Greek scent of baking pita wafted up in the evening – homemade goodness. 
ROOMS. They were clean and comfortable; the furniture appeared new. We appreciated the clothes hanger/clothespins on the balcony to hang up wet bathing suits.
Our sea view room happened to be a bit squishy, but the others I peeked into were a bit more generous with space. Note that if you like to sit on your balcony in your pyjamas, you might want to ask for a room that doesn’t overlook the entrance/outdoor porch where people can sit for drinks (although one of those rooms that our party was occupying was notably larger than ours). One family in our party with an infant and a youngster found a large room with a sea view satisfactory (they had brought a fold-up bed/playpen for the baby); good stroller access.
WI-FI. Good availability from all of our three rooms.
PARKING. Easy; on the street around the building. 
BEACH. Easy access to all by car. Our favourite was Karagatsia beach – quiet and clean with one seasonable beach bar/canteen/rentable umbrellas & sunbeds; there’s a small ‘change room’ (actually, a stall), but no shower to rinse off the sea water. We found Alykes Beach pleasant, but rather busy/touristy. Note that the last part of the road to Megali Ammos beach is unpaved and a bit rough.
EATERIES. We followed the TripAdvisor reviews, as well as a friend’s recommendation, and ended up eating all our meals at Tzanis taverna in town. The large variety of food on offer – cooked dishes as well as seafood - was traditional, delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and accommodating – they even offered to replace the wine when some in our party thought the award-winning one we’d suggested was rather fruity with seafood.
FERRY BOAT. We were surprised to learn that there were fewer ferries in the afternoon; do check the schedule. Thanks to Tzanis taverna, we raced in and caught one before an afternoon gap!

Hotel for Townies

Very good location and friendly staff. Perfect sea view from room balcony. Breakfast with a large variety of pies, pastries, cakes, marmelades, eggs, ham and cheese, yogurt and cereals etc. Brand new furniture, flat tv, fridge and free wifi. The island is amazing and perfect for my holiday.

Recomended hotel

I spent a wonderful night in this hotel. We were not in high season so they almost opened the place for just ourselves. The staff was super lovely, helpful and easy going. They let us have breakfast even when we missed the normal breakfast hours. 
The place is located in a beautiful location very close to the harbour and 15 mins by foot from one of the beaches. 

The island is simply amazing

Welcoming staff and beautiful hotel

At this totally renovated hotel, everything meets my standard for a comfortable stay. Brand new furniture, flat tv, fridge and free wifi, a balcony with a view and a breakfast with a large variety of pies, pastries, cakes, marmelades , eggs, ham and cheese, yogurt and cereals etc.Very considerate also to us diabetics with whole grain cereals and brown bread. Pet friendly for our little dog and staff warm , friendly and welcoming. Cant wait for our next visit to this small paradise.Enjoyed Karagatsi beach which was smaller than Alykes but more picturesque and quieter.

renovated and comfortable

A nice issland, but it has a big problem,
Gangs of motocycles without exost pipes rule the issland in the night time from 1am to 6am in the morning.
We could Not have a good nite slip, it is far to loud and smelly.
There is NOT a POlice Station on the island, ther in No Respect for the turist, they do not care.
We had to leave and go to the main land to Ouranoupoly ,where is a Police Station and it was a lot better.
DO NOT GO TO AMMOULIAY.. if you want to enjoy your vacation

Do Not go to Ammouliany Islang

Is not a hotel. No reception . Bad service. No wi fi. Poor breakfast in a basement. Rude people. Tiny balkony .
Small room. Too expensive for their service. Old tv with no good signal. 
I will come to the island but not in ammouliani hotel.
