A first class example of a family run guesthouse where a warm welcome and friendly, efficient service is the norm. The rooms are cosy and well equipped, ours had a balcony with a fine view. Meals can be taken in the dining room or outside in the garden which has a large play area for children. There is a good selection of food which is well presented and tasty. Breakfast is the usual buffet but with the bonus of some excellent home-made jams. A very good base for visiting places of interest in the surrounding area.

Great Guesthouse

Touring on motorbikes, recommended by a friend in Germany,
was not disappointed, clean, basic, room, run by a friendly family. The food is very good, fresh produce, good choice,
Local wines, excellent value for money.


Great Place near Strasbourg for bed and excellent food

Stopped for a meal an route from Italy to Strasbourg - by chance as our planned route was closed.
Lovely food in a beautiful location
Very helpful and patient service (our German understanding is pitiful).
Also, our son really enjoyed the very good outdoor-play area after being stuck in a car for the previous six hours. 

Lovely Restaurant

A small family hotel about three km out of the town. It is on the road but the rooms are quiet. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which was good and the service was excellent. However, the breakfast the next morning was poor.

Highly recommended

My boyfriend and I visited Schiltach in the Summer of 2014 while we were taking a road trip through Bavaria. We had made plans to go zip lining near Schiltach, but we had not made any reservations for the night before. We arrived in Schiltach at around midnight and the town was quite. All we needed was a place to stay for the night.

When we knocked on the door and asked for a room, we were welcomed with open arms. The only person who was awake was the manager. The room she gave us was small because she didn't have many rooms available, but it was very cozy and very traditional German looking. The manager brought us fresh towels, a fruit snack and tea, and made sure we were satisfied with our room. 

Breakfast the next morning was delicious! We sat in the eating room which was decorated with wooden furniture and paintings about the area. In the middle of the room was a table with all the food: fresh fruit, bread with butter and jam, pastries, juices, tea and coffee, fresh meat, cheese.. you name it! She also brought us fresh boiled eggs, and I have to say they were the BEST i've ever had. 

My boyfriend and I were only there for a night, but it was one of our favorite memories from our trip. We still talk about the town and the hotel to all our friends and family because we left relaxed and happy! We look forward to returning sometime in the future!
